Former Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook is one of the biggest names on the free agent market, and the latest NFL rumors suggest multiple teams will be aggressively pursuing him. In other news, Blaine Gabbert spoke out about what makes Patrick Mahomes so special, while Corey Linsley acknowledged the Chargers offensive line needs to get a lot better.

Rumors Connect Dalvin Cook to Multiple Teams
After months of trade rumors, Dalvin Cook is officially on the open market. The running back should have no shortage of suitors, and New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said that they’ll do their due diligence on the four-time Pro Bowler.
“We’ll turn the stones over on that one, but that’s probably more of a Joe question. I’m not sure how the money works on that,” Saleh said.
It’s interesting that the Jets are entertaining signing Dalvin Cook, considering they just selected Breece Hall in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. While the running back is coming off of a torn ACL, he looked like one of the best runners in the league prior to his injury.
Only time will tell if he’s ready for the start of the season, but you’d think the Jets would go with less of a big name as an insurance policy. New York already has two solid backups in Michael Carter and Zonovan Knight, but apparently, the Jets are looking for a big name in the backfield – for the right price.

Blaine Gabbert Compares Patrick Mahomes to Tom Brady
Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady is widely regarded as the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL, but Patrick Mahomes could challenge that title when all is said and done. According to quarterback Blaine Gabbert, a common denominator in their greatness is their unmatched work ethic.
“They’re maniacal perfectionists,” Gabbert said. “And I mean that in the most endearing way possible. They’re the two best, in my opinion, to ever play the game. To see the similarities…they’re completely different players, as we all know, but the way they approach the game, on and off the football field is the exact same.”
That’s some high praise coming from a player who’s had a front-row seat with both quarterbacks. Gabbert spent the past three seasons backing up Tom Brady in Tampa Bay before signing with the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason to replace the retired Chad Henne. While Patrick Mahomes is in the GOAT conversation, he’s not quite there yet, but he could very well usurp Brady if he can come close to matching Brady’s longevity while maintaining his peak.
Corey Linsley: Chargers OL Must Improve
The Los Angeles Chargers have a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball, but center Corey Linsley knows that the offensive line needs to hold up their end of the bargain. With offensive coordinator Kellen Moore replacing the departed Joe Lombardi, the center spoke about the adjustment to the new scheme.
“Everybody’s running game is different,” Linsley said. “We’ve got to learn this one. I feel like we’re doing a good job of it…but, as of right now, we’ve got to just do our job. We’ve got to be a lot better than we were last year.”
It appears as though Linsley’s biggest concern is with the ground game. Fortunately, all the pieces are there to improve the unit. In addition to the superior scheme, Rashawn Slater is back in the lineup and Jamaree Salyer will move inside to provide some much-needed support at guard. With a stable running game and an elite quarterback in Justin Herbert, the sky is the limit for this team in 2023.
