NFL veteran safety Rodney McLeod signed a new contract with the Cleveland Browns. McLeod, a former undrafted free agent, spent the 2022 season with the Indianapolis Colts but has also played for the St. Louis Rams and Philadelphia Eagles.

Rodney McLeod, Cleveland Browns, Agree to Contract
The 2022 season did not go well for the Indianapolis Colts, but Rodney McLeod still managed to have a solid season despite the turmoil. Appearing in all 17 games while making 15 starts, the safety finished the season with two interceptions, eight passes defended, a career-high 96 tackles and eight tackles-for-loss.
Rodney McLeod originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent following the 2012 NFL Draft. Signing with the St. Louis Rams, the Virginia product immediately had to fight for a roster spot. The rookie was up for the task, making the team while appearing in 16 games. During his time on the field, McLeod finished his inaugural season with 13 tackles.
McLeod built off his relatively quiet rookie season to earn a starting job in 2013. Starting in all 16 games, the safety ended the year with two interceptions, seven passes defended, two forced fumbles, 79 tackles, and two tackles-for-loss.
The safety remained a starter with the Rams for the next two seasons. However, once he hit unrestricted free agency, Rodney McLeod signed a new contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. During McLeod’s first season in town, the Virginia product recorded three interceptions, seven passes defended, one sack, and 83 tackles.
One year later, McLeod helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl. Starting and appearing in 14 games, the safety finished the year with three interceptions, six passes defended, 54 tackles, and two tackles-for-loss.
Since signing his rookie contract, Rodney McLeod has appeared in 156 games while making 138 starts. While on the field, the Virginia product has recorded 18 interceptions, 60 passes defended, 11 forced fumbles, 689 tackles, and 23 tackles-for-loss.
