6 Teams That Could Draft Generational Running Back Prospect

Houston running back Bijan Robinson is the best prospect at his position in a generation, and several teams would love to draft him.
Bijan Robinson Teams

Texas running back Bijan Robinson is the best prospect at his position to enter the NFL Draft in years, and teams should be salivating at the opportunity to add him to their roster. The running back position has become devalued over the years, which is the only reason a player as good as Robinson has a chance at being available in the back half of the first round. Based on talent alone, there is a strong case to be made that Robinson is the best player in the draft, so somebody is going to decide that someone this good is worth a first-round pick.

6 Teams That Could Draft Bijan Robinson, Ranked

Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles lost Miles Sanders in free agency, and they haven’t really done anything to replace him. Sanders was no superstar, but he was still able to average 4.9 yards per carry last year thanks to Philadelphia’s elite offense line and the difficulty that naturally comes from defending Jalen Hurts. Replacing Sanders with an elite talent in Robinson would give Philadelphia the best running game in football. Defenses won’t be able to devote resources to stopping both the run and the passing game, so this offense should once again be a top-five unit in football.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys placed the franchise tag on Tony Pollard, but they have yet to reach a long-term deal with the running back. If they can’t come to terms, then perhaps the Cowboys decide to add Bijan Robinson to the team. Dallas clearly has no issue with spending up for a running back, as in the last decade alone they’ve franchised Pollard, drafted Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth-overall pick, and made him the richest running back in football a few years later.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have the best offense in football, and they’ve managed to do that without having the slightest threat of a running game. The Clyde Edwards-Helaire selection did not work out, and while Isiah Pacheco showed some promise as a rookie, he’s not nearly as good as Robinson. The Chiefs see the fewest amount of stacked boxes in the league, which means that a player like Robinson would be nearly unstoppable every single time he touches the ball.

Buffalo Bills

Damien Harris is a nice signing and a strong, physical runner, but if the Bills want a true difference-maker in the backfield, they’ll go after Bijan Robinson. Playing in Buffalo, it’s important for the Bills to be able to play a physical style of football when the temperature drops, and Bijan Robinson is vital to that mission.

Los Angeles Chargers

Austin Ekeler wants a trade, but even if he doesn’t get what he wants, the Chargers need to start thinking about finding his eventual replacement. The former undrafted free agent is entering his age-28 season, which is usually when running backs start falling off a cliff. Bijan Robinson and Austin Ekeler would give this team the best running back duo in football in the short term, as well as their eventual three-down back.

New Orleans Saints

Alvin Kamara will likely start the season with a suspension, and the former third-round pick isn’t getting any younger. While it might not be wise for the team to use their first-round pick on an expandable position like this, they might decide that Bijan Robinson’s insane talent makes him worth the investment. After all, the Saints love throwing to running backs, and Robinson is as good a receiver as they come.
