First-time Pro Bowl quarterback Tyler Huntley received the first right of refusal tender. This means that the Ravens will keep him under contract, but other teams will have the right to make an offer for his services. Huntley, a career backup, signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2020, and has spent the past 3 seasons with the franchise.

Tyler Huntley Receives First Right of Refusal Tender
Tyler Huntley was able to capitalize off an opportunistic 2022 season with the Baltimore Ravens, as superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson went down with a serious knee injury against the Denver Broncos in Week 13, forcing Huntley into starting the remaining four games of the season. The implications surrounding that final stretch of games were tremendous, as Baltimore needed to string together a few critical victories in order to secure a spot in the Wild Card Playoffs. Huntley delivered, winning two of the remaining four games and giving the Ravens a chance at extending their season.
Huntley played surprisingly well in a very tightly contested Wild Card matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Ravens lost the game 17-24, but Huntley had a solid showing, completing just under 60% of his passes, throwing for 226 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Huntley’s performance over his last five starts was impressive enough to elevate him from perennial practice squad player to potential full-time starter.
Tyler Huntley attended the University of Utah, where he started three years for the Utes. After inconsistent and injury-riddled sophomore and junior seasons, Huntley put together an impressive senior year, leading the Utes to the Pac-12 Final. Huntley entered the 2020 NFL draft, where he went undrafted, but signed to the Baltimore Ravens practice squad just one week later.
Huntley has played sparingly throughout his career with the Ravens. As a rookie, Huntley only saw action in 2 games, attempting 10 passes for the season. Due to various injuries to Lamar Jackson in 2021, Huntley saw the field much more; playing in 7 games, completing 122 passes, and throwing for 1,081 yards. Although 2021 was Huntley’s best statistical year, 2022 was his most notable season as pro, attributed to a late-run playoff bid.
