Orlando Brown, Cincinnati Bengals, Agree to Contract
Offensive tackle Orlando Brown is coming off of yet another phenomenal season. Starting and appearing in all 17 regular season games, the former Raven spent the entire season successfully keeping superstar MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes upright and safe. Accoring to Pro Football Focus, Brown finished the season with a 75.7 grade, good for 18th-best in the league among 84 eligible players.
Orlando Brown originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Selected by the Baltimore Ravens, the tackle began his career as a backup before eventually breaking into the starting lineup. In total, the Oklahoma product appeared in 10 games while making six starts at right tackle. The Ravens made the playoffs in Brown’s rookie year, but they ultimately fell in the Wild Card round to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Brown maintained the right tackle job heading into 2019 and proved that he deserved to be on the field. Starting and appearing in all 16 games, Brown earned the first Pro Bowl nod of his career while helping the Ravens set a rushing record as Lamar Jackson became just the second unanimous MVP in league history. However, despite the regular season accolades, Baltimore’s season met a premature end in an upset loss to the Tennessee Titans.
Brown spent the 2020 season switching between both right and left tackle, but was still good enough to earn another Pro Bowl birth. Following the season, Orlando Brown wanted a new contract, but the Ravens instead decided to ship him off to the Kansas City Chiefs. As a full-time left tackle, Brown made his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl birth and helped Kansas City make it all the way to the AFC Championship Game.
