Ethan Pocic, Cleveland Browns, Agree to Contract
After years of solid-yet-unspectacular play in Seattle, Ethan Pocic came alive during his first season in Cleveland. Starting and appearing in 13 games, Pocic provided reliable blocking in both the passing and running game. According to Pro Football Focus, Pocic finished the season with a 79.0 grade, the third-best mark among 38 eligible players. Even with Pocic’s breakout season, the Browns themselves had a season to forget, with Jacoby Brissett spending most of the season under center.
Ethan Pocic originally entered the NFL as a second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Selected by the Seattle Seahawks, the LSU product started his career bouncing around the offensive line. Filling in for multiple injured players, Pocic appeared in all 16 games, making a combined 11 starts at both the left and right guard positions. The Seahawks themselves went 9-7 and did not qualify for the playoffs.
With the offensive line healthy, Pocic returned to play center in the 2018 season. Appearing in 10 games while recording four starts, Pocic helped the Seahawks go 10-6 and make their triumphant return to the playoffs. Unfortunately, their stay didn’t last long, as they lost in the Wild Card round to the Dallas Cowboys.
After a back injury limited him to just four games in 2019, Pocic returned to the lineup in 2020 and started 14 games. Following the season, Ethan Pocic signed a one-year contract with the Seahawks and ended up making 10 starts in his 13 appearances.
Since signing his rookie contract, Ethan Pocic has appeared in 70 games while making 53 starts at center, left guard, and right guard. He has also recovered four fumbles throughout the course of his career.
