The Baltimore Ravens offense is going to look a lot different in 2023. The team has already parted ways with former offensive coordinator Greg Roman and replaced him with Todd Monken. Now, the team might need to find a new wide receivers coach. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Indianapolis Colts have requested to interview Ravens wide receiver coach Tee Martin to be their new offensive coordinator.

Indianapolis Colts Request Interview With Ravens Receiver Coach Tee Martin
After spending his entire coaching career at the collegiate level, the Ravens first brought Martin to the professional level prior to the 2021 season. Since then, the Ravens wide receivers haven’t exactly set the world on fire, but it’s hard to blame Martin for the lack of success. Marquise Brown had a good year in 2021, and Rashod Bateman has shown some signs of life, although injuries have kept him from being a sure thing.
Outside of those two, Baltimore hasn’t had a receiver with the physical skills to be anything more than a replacement-level backup at best. Even the best coaches need good players to execute their schemes, and it doesn’t appear as though the Colts are blaming Tee Martin for not turning Devin Duvernay and Sammy Watkins into Randy Moss and Chris Carter.
If Tee Martin leaves, that is just going to be one more massive change for the Ravens in what is easily their most important offseason in the Lamar Jackson Era. Nobody knows if the quarterback will be around next year, and that includes the current offensive coordinator. Contract talks are reportedly stalling, and if the team can’t come to terms, the Ravens might trade Lamar Jackson – and it could even be to Martin’s new team.
Could Lamar Jackson Follow Tee Martin to Indianapolis?
So, if the Ravens themselves can’t guarantee Lamar Jackson will be back in 2023, then where could he go? As demonstrated by his amazing 2019, Jackson has one of the highest ceilings in the league when healthy and in the right system. The Ravens won’t trade him for anything less than a king’s ransom, so which teams are in the position to meet Baltimore’s lofty trade demands and provide with the scheme he needs to thrive?
Well, if the Colts hire Tee Martin, then they’re the perfect fit. If anyone knows how to use Lamar Jackson, it should be the guy that spent the past two years coaching him. Despite their 4-12-1 record, the Colts actually have a decent roster, it just wasn’t good enough to overcome a clearly-washed Matt Ryan and a clearly overmatched Jeff Saturday. Indianapolis has already addressed the coaching issue by bringing aboard Shane Steichen, the guy that turned Jalen Hurts from a raw, athletic passer into a franchise quarterback. Now, Steichen can get his hands on an even better version of Jalen Hurts and create a team ready to compete in 2023.
Indianapolis currently has the fourth-overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, which would be the starting point for any trade conversations. Obviously, this pick alone wouldn’t be enough to get Lamar Jackson, but when paired with a few other assets, it should be enough to get the job done.
As mentioned in several earlier articles, the best-case scenario for the 2023 Ravens involves Lamar Jackson on the roster. However, if Tee Martin leaves the Ravens for the Colts, there is a real chance that scenario doesn’t unfold.
