Keep an Eye on These Giants Players in the Preseason Finale

As you sit down on Sunday with your game day snacks, here are some players to keep an eye on in the Giants preseason finale.
Giants Finale

The New York Giants will take on the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon in the preseason finale. It is an incredibly important game for a lot of the players involved, as teams are required to cut their rosters down to 53 players by Tuesday, Aug 30th. Some position battles have been especially competitive all training camp long and are still very much undecided. So as you sit down on Sunday with your game-day snacks, here are some players to keep an eye on in the Giants preseason finale.

Players To Keep an Eye on in Giants Preseason Finale

Daniel Jones

Of course, Danny Dimes has his spot on the roster secure. But it is time for the fourth-year quarterback to take a big step forward this year. He has looked good so far in the preseason. He also had an awesome week of joint practices with the Jets. Look for Daniel Jones to make quick decisions, and deliver his guys the football accurately. He is becoming more and more comfortable in Brian Daboll’s system. So expect the offense to run smoothly while he is under center.

Alex Bachman

Alex Bachman is coming off an unbelievable performance, hauling in 11 catches for 122 yards and two touchdowns against the Bengals. This has catapulted him into the conversation for the final wide receiver spot on the roster. Bachman is a smart, hard-working player. And he needs to follow up last week’s game with another impressive showing. If he can do that, he may just beat out Richie James for that final spot.

Ryder Anderson

Standing at 6’6”, it is hard to overlook Ryder Anderson. But the un-drafted rookie is trying to make a spot on a very talented defensive line that doesn’t have many available. He is 276 pounds at the young age of 23. Along with that size is his great athleticism, which he uses to break into the backfield and make plays. This combination has resulted in five solo tackles through the first two preseason games with a couple of tackles for a loss. It is actually great efficiency considering he hasn’t gotten a ton of playing time thus far. But you can be sure that he will get his time on Sunday. It will be the last time Daboll and company get to see him in action before the final cuts are made.

Oshane Ximines vs Quincy Roche

The most intriguing of all position battles may be at the EDGE rusher position. Oshane Ximines and Quincy Roche are both very solid players, but they are battling for one spot. Ximines has spent most of the summer getting first-team reps. But Roche has played very well in the preseason. With injuries to Kayvon Thibodeaux, Azeez Ojulari, and Elerson Smith, the Edge position is very banged up for the Giants right now. This means these two will get plenty of playing time and that means plenty of opportunities for us to watch the competition unfold.

Last Word

It’s a careering altering week for a lot of these players. And there is no better way to close out the preseason than the hometown rivalry of the Giants and the Jets. So enjoy those position battles as they come to a close. And the players to keep an eye on in Giants’ preseason finale.
