Brown was selected to the Pro Bowl for the fifth time of his NFL career in 2021. Playing in all 17 games with the Seahawks, the offensive tackle played 98% of the offensive snaps. The 2021 season was polarizing for Brown in which he played differently in two different halves of the season. Contrasting to his poor play during the first half of the season, Brown played well enough in the second half to be selected to the Pro Bowl.
The first half of Brown’s 2021 season was the worst since his rookie season. Brown allowed eight sacks for the year with most of those in the first half of the season. Despite a poor first half, he only allowed 10 pressures for the second half of the season. Being as consistent as he was the previous year, he played every game for the Seahawks in 2021.
Brown began his NFL career with the Houston Texans when he was their number one pick, 26th overall, in the 2008 NFL draft. As a rookie, Brown played in every game for the Texans. He contributed to Matt Schaub‘s league leading 4,770 passing yards in 2009 by being one of the offensive linemen that protected Schaub.
Amazingly, Brown has had an outstanding NFL career as an offensive tackle. He has played five different seasons where he had no holding penalties. He also has been a five-time Pro Bowl selection. Additionally, Brown has been a first team All-Pro and a two-time second team All-Pro.
Brown played college football at Virginia Tech. He began his college career as a tight end until he was moved to offensive tackle. The move proved to be rewarding for Brown as he was voted the state’s Offensive Tackle of the Year by the Richmond Touchdown Club in 2006 and 2007. He also was second team All-ACC for 2006 and 2007.
