Quandre Diggs Signs With Seattle Seahawks

NFL safety Quandre Diggs has signed a new contract with the Seattle Seahawks. The veteran will be entering his ninth season, having spent the last two-plus years with the Seattle Seahawks.

When looking at the season Quandre Diggs had in 2021, it is easy to see that Diggs is right in his prime. One of the most consistent and reliable pieces of the Seattle secondary, Diggs started every single game for the second straight season. Diggs finished with a career-high 94 total tackles, seven pass deflections, and five interceptions. On a team that had as many issues as the Seahawks did in coverage this past season, Diggs made a massive impact. One that even earned him his second Pro Bowl nod.

Originally a sixth-round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Texas product began his career as a rotational piece. He didn’t become a full-time starter until 2017 and never looked back. Diggs spent 65 games of his career with the Lions, producing solid, but not game-changing numbers. Those did not come until he moved out to Seattle, following a trade in October of 2019. Traded for merely a fifth-round pick, Diggs made the Lions regret their decision. In his 38 career games (all starts) for the Seahawks, Diggs had 13 interceptions to his name, 20 pass deflections, and 158 total tackles. Even so, things took a turn by the end of the 2021 season, after suffering a broken fibula in Week 18.

Luckily, Diggs has already undergone surgery, and could still be ready in time for the season according to his initial recovery timetable. Whether or not Diggs will be the same player is still to be seen. A respected leader from his time in Detroit and Seattle, Diggs is still one of the more underrated safeties in the entire league. And if he can return at full strength in 2022, the two-time Pro Bowl safety can wreak havoc.
