Gallup’s 2021 was derailed by injuries. The young wide receiver was placed on the injured reserve list after the opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gallup was able to return in 2021 for the playoff push. Unfortunately, his season was cut short again due to an ACL rupture in week 17.
Gallup’s injury was unfortunate as the speedster was making a name for himself. The wide receiver had some nice games while CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper missed games with injuries and while on the COVID-19 reserve list. This injury is unfortunate heading into free agency as Gallup will likely miss most of the off-season with rehab.
The wideout is coming off a productive 2020 and 2019 with 843 yards on 59 catches in 2020 and 1107 yards on 66 catches in 2019. Gallup also tallied 11 touchdowns over that two-year span. Before Dallas drafted Lamb, Gallup looked to be the clear number two receiver in Dallas.
Gallup’s rookie season was not as productive as his 2019 and 2020, but he was still a crucial part of the offense with 507 yards on 33 catches with two touchdowns. He has produced every year in Dallas and made a great hand for the Cowboys when Cooper is covered up or injured.
Before Dallas drafted Gallup, he started his college career at Butler Community College. Gallup exploded onto the scene against the Dodge City Community College Conquistadors as a freshman. He had five catches for 287 yards and three touchdowns against the Conqs. He then moved on to Colorado State University where he set a school-record 100 receptions with 1,413 yards and seven touchdowns. While at CSU he tallied 176 receptions with 2,690 yards and 21 total touchdowns. He was a Fred Biletnikoff Award finalist his senior year and one of the best receivers to graduate from Colorado State University.
