Week 2 Draftkings Plays: Najee Harris, Keenan Allen, and More

Week 2 DraftKings Plays - Najee Harris and Keenan Allen should have fantastic outings in DFS and should lead to a hefty payout.
Week 2 Draftkings Plays

Week 1 is in the books and we are back in the full swing of the NFL season. One of my favorite parts is fantasy football. One of my favorite aspects of fantasy football has become playing on DraftKings. Every week is like a new puzzle to figure out. Whether you are more of a cash game player or a tournament player, each presents a unique challenge. Let’s take a look at my favorite Week 2 DraftKings plays.

Week 2 DraftKings Plays

Week 1 Recap

Complete transparency and accountability are always good. That’s what I like to do with everything I do and that goes for fantasy football as well. Whether it’s bold takes or DraftKings recommendations, I always like to keep track of wins and losses. Doing so is not only good for the readers to know, but also helps me learn from mistakes moving forward.

Looking back at Week 1, it. This week 56% of my recommendations hit the 2.5x value sought for in cash game lineups. This time the quarterback group led the way tied at an 80% success rate. Meanwhile, the wide tight end group brought up the rear tied at a 40% success rate. For me personally, it was a break-even type of week. We’ll look to get in going even better with the picks and get back into profit in the Week 2 DraftKings plays.

  • Week 1 – $223 → $208 ($15 LOSS)
  • Year Total – $223 → $208 ($15 LOSS)

Quarterbacks

Dak Prescott (DAL) – $6,800 @ LAC

Dak Prescott under 7k? What are we even doing out here? Someone needs to check on the people who set the prices and see if they made an error or had a typo. All things considered, 7k is a truly crazy price. Last year before getting injured, Prescott was the league leader in fantasy points per game. On top of that, the Dallas Cowboys were one of the fastest paced offenses to that point. Their defense was also atrocious which allowed shootouts nearly every game. Dak and the Cowboys picked right back up where they left off. In week 1 Dak threw 58 passes for 403 yards and 3 scores, good for 31.4 fantasy points. This week’s matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers should be a good one. The game has the highest combined total on the slate and features two high-powered, fast-paced offenses. Fire up Dak Prescott in contests of all shapes and sizes.

Jalen Hurts (PHI) – $6,500 v SF

So Jalen Hurts puts up a monster 28.8 fantasy points and only goes up $100? Is the matchup against the San Francisco 49ers the real reason this price stayed as low as it is? This 49ers defense looked good early on but it still allowed a 30 fantasy point game from Jared Goff. The Detroit Lions put up 33 points in that game. Yes, most of it was garbage time production but it all counts the same. Hurts looked great in Week 1 as he threw for 264 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also added another 62 yards on the ground. The production with his legs is very intriguing as it gives him a high weekly floor with an insane ceiling. Keep playing Hurts until he is appropriately priced.

Others to Consider: Josh Allen (BUF) – $7,200 @ MIA, Tom Brady (TB) – $6,900 v ATL, Justin Herbert (LAC) – $6,700 v DAL

Running Backs

Christian McCaffrey (CAR) – $9,900 v NO

Another week, another Christian McCaffrey recommendation. This recommendation may seem like an expensive price but anytime he is priced under $10,000 he is easily in heavy consideration. McCaffrey, simply put, is a fantasy football cheat code in full PPR formats like DraftKings. Last week he was the second-highest scoring running back on the week with 27.7 fantasy points and he did that without scoring a touchdown. He is able to do that because he sees more targets and receptions than most wide receivers do. Last week it was nine receptions for 89 yards to go along with the 98 rushing yards. This week he faces the New Orleans Saints who looked incredible on defense in Week 1. The usage is simply too good to fade because of a seemingly tough matchup.

Najee Harris (PIT) – $6,300 v LV

Najee Harris was definitely a bust in his NFL debut. He only had 49 total yards on 16 carries and one reception. That was good for only 5.9 fantasy points. On the plus side, he played every single snap and had every single touch. That kind of workload is ridiculous. He will not continue to see a 100% snap and touch share but if he even sees 80% or more every week he is a true workhorse. The silver lining for the bad week last week is that it kept his price down for this week. This week Harris gets to bring his massive workload back home against the Las Vegas Raiders who allowed plenty of production on the ground to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 and were awful against running backs in 2020 too. Do not worry about the rough game in Week 1 and chase the volume with Najee this week.

Ezekiel Elliott (DAL) – $6,200 @ LAC

The blurb here for Ezekiel Elliott could basically be a copy and paste from Najee Harris. Elliott was a bust in Week 1 but the volume was still there. He also finished with 5.9 points as he racked up 39 total yards on 11 carries and two receptions. Elliott played 83% of the offensive snaps. That is not quite Harris level but it is still elite. Week 1 can be chalked up to playing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They have an incredible defensive line and stop the run better than any team in the NFL. This week he gets a matchup against the Chargers in a game that has the highest combined total. This game looks likely to be a fast-paced shootout and Elliott should have a big bounce back this week.

Others to Consider: Joe Mixon (CIN) – $7,000 @ CHI, Alvin Kamara (NO) – 8,800 @ CAR, Chris Carson (SEA) – $6,100 v TEN, Chase Edmonds (ARI) – $4,900 v MIN

Wide Receivers

Keenan Allen (LAC) – $7,000 v DAL

Keenan Allen is a target hog, plain and simple. In 12 games with Justin Herbert in which he did not leave early, he has only had less than 10 targets one time. In that game, he still had 7. This is called a “high floor” in the biz. Allen caught 9 balls for 100 yards on 13 targets in Week 1. There is no reason to expect anything different this week against the swiss-cheese Cowboys defense. Dallas cannot stop anyone and they have the firepower to keep up with anyone so this should be a fun one. There is never a wrong time to play Allen but the projected fastest-paced game with the highest combined total is certainly one of the best.

Cooper Kupp (LAR) – $6,000 @ IND

The Matthew Stafford era is officially underway for the Los Angeles Rams and it looks like Cooper Kupp is enjoying the start. In the first game, he saw 10 targets catching seven of them for 108 yards and a score. That was good for 26.8 fantasy points. This week he did not see much of a price bump due to playing on Sunday Night Football. This game has a high combined total with a close spread which is everything we want. This is also one of the only games in a dome this week which is a nice boost to the passing games on both sides. Kupp is likely to be one of the chalkiest plays of the week but deserves heavy consideration, especially in cash game builds as one of the very best Week 2 DraftKings plays.

Cole Beasley (BUF) – $4,600 @ MIA

Cole Beasley just seems to always outperform expectations. Teammate Gabriel Davis was the buzz guy for the Buffalo Bills this off-season. However, it was Beasley that showed in Week 1 he is still the most trusted wide receiver not named Stefon Diggs for Josh Allen. He saw a whopping 13 targets and caught right of them for 60 yards. Josh Allen and the Bills are likely to remain one of the most pass-heavy teams in the NFL so Beasley should continue to see ample opportunities on a weekly basis. The matchup this week against the Miami Dolphins is nothing special but also nothing to fear at the same time.

Others to Consider: Justin Jefferson (MIN) – $7,400 @ ARI, Amari Cooper (DAL) –  $6,800 @ LAC, CeeDee Lamb (DAL) – $6,400 @ LAC, Allen Robinson (CHI) – $6,200 v CIN, Tyler Boyd (CIN) – $4,700 @ CHI

Tight Ends

Darren Waller (LV) – $7,600 @ PIT

19 targets. That is not a typo and is actually how many targets Darren Waller saw in Week 1 against the Ravens. He caught 10 of them for 105 yards and a score on his way to 29.5 fantasy points. Waller is not going to see 19 targets on a weekly basis but he is the clear alpha in this offense and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him reach double-digit targets more weeks than not. The matchup this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers is not a great one by any means. Waller is the type of player where the matchup really does not matter. If spending up this week at tight end, chasing Waller and his massive target share is a good choice.

Noah Fant (DEN) – $4,200 @ JAX

Right now the Jacksonville Jaguars look absolutely horrendous, especially on defense. This week Noah Fant gets to face said Jaguars defense. Enough said. Seriously though Tyrod Taylor and the Houston Texans offense just lit up this Jacksonville defense. Fant is an explosive athlete and just put up six catches for 62 yards on eight targets in Week 1. He led the Denver Broncos in targets and unfortunately Jerry Jeudy is going to be out for a while with an ankle injury. Fant should be one of the guys that benefits in his absence and that should start this week in a great spot.

Others to Consider: Tyler Higbee (LAR) – $4,100 @ IND, Cole Kmet (CHI) – $3,700 v CIN, James O’Shaughnessy (JAX) – $2,700 v DEN

Defense/Special Teams

Defense/special teams is the last spot I fill in every week. This pick can be pretty random but there are a few areas to gain an advantage. I look to target the heavily favored teams as they usually are playing with a lead. This forces their opponent to throw it more often which can help lead to extra sacks and turnovers and hopefully a touchdown. Another aspect to target is turnover and sack-prone quarterbacks. My advice is to fill out the rest of your lineup first and then pick your favorite D/ST out of the remaining money.

My Tentative Cash Game Lineup

  • QB – Jalen Hurts
  • RB – Najee Harris
  • RB – Christian McCaffrey
  • WR – Keenan Allen
  • WR – Cooper Kupp
  • WR – Terrace Marshall Jr
  • TE – James O’Shaughnessy
  • Flex – Ezekiel Elliott
  • DST – Minnesota Vikings

Make sure to tune in next week to see the results from my Week 2 DraftKings plays and to see the best picks for Week 3. Best of luck to everyone and let’s all enjoy some football and win some money!
