Quarterback Jalen Hurts didn’t play in Philadelphia’s second preseason game but, according to NFL rumors, he had a good reason for the absence. Hurts reportedly was hospitalized with a stomach infection and was instructed to stay home for at least two days. In other news, wide receiver N’Keal Harry was seen in a sling following Week 2’s preseason game, and the New Orleans Saints are actively working on solving their kicking woes.

NFL Rumors: Jalen Hurts, N’Keal Harry, Saints Kickers
Jalen Hurts Diagnosed With Stomach Infection
Entering yesterday’s game, everyone expected quarterback Jalen Hurts to see a good amount of time with the starting offense. However, when the game actually started, longtime veteran Joe Flacco was under center. As the game progressed, reports leaked that Hurts came down with an illness just before kickoff that was not COVID-related.
Once the game came to a close, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the quarterback was diagnosed with a stomach infection and told to stay at home for at least two days. This is obviously an unfortunate setback for Hurts, as reports out of camp indicated that the second-year pro had put together a few solid practices against the Patriots.

When news originally broke, some believed that Hurts’ absence could be tied to a potential Deshaun Watson trade. However, considering Hurts had to be hospitalized, it’s safe to say that his disappearance has nothing to do with a trade, especially considering the FBI is now questioning Watson.
N’Keal Harry In Sling After Game
The biggest goal of the preseason is to make it out healthy, and unfortunately, that didn’t happen for New England Patriots wide receiver N’Keal Harry. Late in the second quarter, the wideout appeared to injure himself while diving for a deep pass. While we still don’t know the exact injury, Josh Tolentino captured a picture of N’Keal Harry in a sling after the win.

There’s never a good time for an injury, but this latest setback is especially unfortunate for the former first-round pick. After requesting a trade in the offseason, Harry had reportedly played well during training camp, although the results had yet to translate to the NFL field. Outside of a 19-yard completion on 3rd and 13, the receiver hadn’t done much of anything during the preseason.
While nobody would confuse New England’s receiving room with the 1999 St. Louis Rams, the Patriots have a solid trio of starters ahead of Harry. Jakobi Meyers looks like the heir to Julian Edelman’s throne, Nelson Agholor can get open deep, and Kendrick Bourne has drawn rave reviews during camp. New England should be able to get by if Harry misses an extended period of time.
New Orleans Saints Work Out Kickers
The 2021 New Orleans Saints are going to look notably different from previous iterations of the team, and even kickers aren’t immune to this change. Longtime kicker Will Lutz is recovering from core muscle surgery, and replacement Brett Maher was just released with an injury settlement of his own. With nobody in town, New Orleans brought in Aldrick Rosas, Alex Kessman, and Dominik Eberle for tryouts.
Rosas is easily the biggest name of this group, as the Southern Oregon product spent the past four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Giants. Jacksonville released him earlier in the year with an injury settlement, and he’s probably the frontrunner to land the job if he’s fully healthy. Kessman and Eberle, meanwhile, do not have any professional kicking experience, although both players have been a part of other NFL training camps.
