Eight-year NFL veteran guard Brian Winters signed a one-year, contract with the Arizona Cardinals. Winters, a former third-round pick, spent the 2020 season with the Buffalo Bills but has also played for the New York Jets.

Brian Winters, Arizona Cardinals, Agree to Contract
After spending the first seven years of his career in the Big Apple, Winters moved upstate to join the Buffalo Bills. This signing only happened before incumbent start Jon Feliciano suffered a torn pectoral muscle in August, prematurely ending his season. Appearing in all 16 games while making nine starts, Winters played an integral role in keeping Josh Allen upright while opening holes in the running game.
After never winning the division or making the playoffs with the Jets, Winters won the AFC East and made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game during his first season with the Buffalo Bills. Despite the team success, Winters did not grade out well with Pro Football Focus. According to their film-based grading system, Winters ended the year as the 63rd-best guard out of 80 qualifying players.
Winters initially began his NFL journey as a third-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Selected by the New York Jets, Winters made an immediate impact for Rex Ryan’s squad. Appearing in all 16 games, the third-round pick turned into a solid 12-game starter for the surprisingly 8-8 roster. Unfortunately, he couldn’t build on his impressive rookie season, as a torn ACL ended his 2014 season after just six games.
Winters returned to full health in 2015, but he had to learn a new position. With a new coaching staff in town, Winters moved over to right guard. Despite having to learn a new position, Winters still played in all 16 games while making 10 starts. He remained New York’s starting right guard for the duration of time with the New York Jets.
