Report: Buffalo Bills-Tennessee Titans Game Moved to Tuesday
According to the report, the Tennessee Titans have averted a potential forfeit if no more positive tests would occur. There were discussions regarding a possible forfeit for the Titans, according to various outlets. This was most likely as a result of the workouts held by the Titans last week, that were not allowed according to the NFL protocols. It can not be said for certain, but these workouts most likely played a role in the rising numbers of Covid-19 in the Titans organization.
Not only do the Titans avoid a forfeit, but the NFL may also have averted a potential issue with player salary with the Buffalo Bills. There were reports suggesting that the Bills’ players would not be paid their game salary if the game was not played this season. This also has collateral damage around the NFL as it removes a highly-anticipated primetime game next Thursday between the Bills and Chiefs as the Bills would be on two days less rest than the Chiefs. Although if more cases were to come forward, the game would be played on Thursday.
For now, this puts a hold on the possibility of the NFL adding an extra week to complete all of the regular season games, or the possibility of deciding playoff spots based on winning percentage, rather than wins. With coronavirus cases popping up around the league, the NFL is at a pivotal point in the season as to whether they will control the early season struggles like MLB, or have many more issues in the future.
