Philadelphia Eagles Receiving Corps Ranked 14th in NFL, Per PFF

The Philadelphia Eagles have the 14th-best receiving corps in the NFL, according to the analysts over at Pro Football Focus.
Eagles Receiving Corps

The Philadelphia Eagles receiving corps was one of the worst in the NFL during the 2019 season. After entering the season with relatively high hopes, injuries and inconsistency destroyed their promise and left Carson Wentz with one of the worst supporting casts in the league. However, the experts at Pro Football Focus feel that the Eagles have done plenty to improve their supporting cast. According to the advanced analytics website, Philadelphia currently has the 14th-best receiving corps in the league.

It’s worth noting that PFF is including running backs and tight ends in their breakdown, so players like Miles Sanders, Zach Ertz, and Dallas Goedert have been accounted for.

PFF fully acknowledges that this group has a wide range of possible outcomes. According to the site, “no one really knows what to expect from Alshon Jeffery…nor do they know what DeSean Jackson has left”. However, even if both players can’t contribute in 2020, Philadelphia has to feel good about their added depth. PFF specifically calls out the talent of first-round pick Jalen Reagor and tight ends Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert. Ultimately, it comes down to health for this receiving corps. If Jeffery and Jackson can stay healthy, then this unit could be one of the best in the league.

As mentioned in a previous article, a healthy DeSean Jackson could make all the difference in the world for this unit. However, you can’t really bank on health, and the Eagles have done a great job of adding speed to the roster. The team acquired Marquise Goodwin during the NFL Draft, and he’s essentially a poor mans’ DeSean Jackson. Jalen Reagor can get open deep, and fifth-round selection John Hightower possesses great downfield speed.

Pro Football Focus does not see a bright future for 2019 second-round pick J.J. Arcega-Whiteside. The rookie was one of the biggest disappointments of the previous season, and PFF says that he “needs to show considerable improvement” if he’s to last in the NFL.
