Jordan Fuller 2020 NFL Draft Profile

Jordan Fuller is already a professional mentally. He received an offer from Ohio State after winning a state championship in New Jersey and winning Gatorade Player of the Year. After immediately excelling in academics, he helped to create a 2017 seminar to teach players about sexual assaults, abusive relationships, and what a healthy relationship should be. The off-field work and commitment to the team slotted Fuller as a team captain in 2018 and 2019.

Fuller landed 81 tackles and grabbed an interception in 2018, then earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors in 2019, with 62 tackles and two interceptions. He played deep most of the time at Ohio State, in a position that may not suit him in the NFL. Regardless, his off the field work, and flashes that he may have the potential to move up as a box safety should encourage scouts to take him late on day 3.

Jordan Fuller 2020 NFL Draft Bottom Line

Jordan Fuller is a top-line professional on and off the field. The only question is if a coach can teach him the technical needs of the backfield or if he can gain the strength to compete in the box. Extreme toughness benefits his efforts to move up to the box while a lack of athleticism to hover on fast receivers make a successful transition to the NFL highly unlikely. If he stays behind receivers to spot the ball, he wins battles; if he gets stuck in front of a receiver, he has an incredibly hard time to catch up.

The other question Fuller will need to answer with time is his ability to negotiate with tight ends. He has a smaller frame that may not be physically strong enough to compete with tight ends. That does not indicate he is not willing to compete, however. Fuller is a team leader and a loved team captain – those good reviews and the ability to mature may help him adopt better technical provisions at the next level.
