Tremayne Anchrum 2020 NFL Draft Profile

Clemson offensive guard Tremayne Anchrum gained national attention in this year’s Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State and defensive end Chase Young. He received first-team all-state honors by the Atlanta Constitution. He also received all-district honors. Anchrum committed to Clemson over Nebraska and Colorado. He also played against future teammate Mitch Hyatt in high school.

College

Anchrum played in 11 games during his freshman season. His first start was against Pittsburgh, the only team to beat Clemson that year. He played 37 snaps, with a knockdown, in win over Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. Clemson went on to win the national championship against Alabama 35-31 thanks to Deshaun Watson. As a sophomore, Anchrum played in all 14 games, making six starts. He played 35 snaps against No. 7 Miami (Fla.) in the ACC Championship Game, in addition to a knockdown in 37 snaps in a loss to No. 4 Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.

Anchrum led an offensive line that registered 211 rushing yards and 327 passing yards in their semi-final win over Notre Dame.

As a captain, he enabled Clemson to gain 600 yards of offense vs. No. 22 Virginia en route to a fifth straight ACC Championship. He played 68 snaps as Clemson produced the fifth-largest comeback in school history, overcoming a 16-0 deficit in a Fiesta Bowl win vs. No. 2 Ohio State.  He played 71 snaps in a loss to No. 1 LSU in the national championship. Bottom Line on Tremayne Anchrum

Anchrum is a typical pro prospect that benefited from the talent around him. He has a high range of abilities that can translate to the NFL. He has a knack for performing well against best pass rushers in college football. His resume will certainly help give him an advantage in the pros. He comes off the line at a high rate of speed and his first step will help him disguise his size disadvantage against bigger linemen. His footwork will certainly help him maintain proper balance.

Anchrum’s size, however, may discourage teams from playing tackle and only use him as a guard. That is a position that he is not used to playing, which results in having to be coached the technique. His consistency will need to be fixed if he wants to become a long term starter and potential Pro-Bowl player.
