Phillip Dorsett, Seattle Seahawks, Agree to Terms
Phillip Dorsett spent the 2019 season catching passes from Tom Brady with the New England Patriots. Starting the season as the third option on the depth chart, Dorsett got off to a hot start to the season. Through the first three games of the season, the former first-round pick recorded 13 receptions for 187 yards and three touchdowns. However, his production took a dip as the season progressed. Thanks to the arrival of Mohamed Sanu and the return of N’Keal Harry, Dorsett struggled to see the field towards the close of the season. Ultimately, Dorsett finished the season with 29 receptions on 54 targets for 397 yards and five touchdowns.
Dorsett initially entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Selected by the Indianapolis Colts, Dorsett spent the majority of his rookie year in a supporting role. Appearing in 11 games, the Miami product recorded 18 receptions for 225 yards and one touchdown. The next season, Dorsett recorded 33 receptions for 528 yards and two touchdowns while appearing in 15 games and making five starts.
Prior to start of the 2017 season, the Indianapolis Colts traded Phillip Dorsett to the New England Patriots in exchange for quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Dorsett struggled to find his footing during his first year in New England, seeing as he arrived less than one week before the start of the season. Utilized primary as emergency depth, Dorsett ended the 2017 campaign with 12 receptions for 194 yards. He earned a larger role in 2018, recorded 32 receptions for 290 yards and three touchdowns. Additionally, Dorsett caught all of Tom Brady’s touchdown passes during their Super Bowl run.
