Marcedes Lewis Signs With Green Bay Packers
Lewis completed his second season as a Packer in 2019. The veteran was more involved than in his first year with the team. He had 15 receptions for 156 yards along with one touchdown. Lewis also had two receptions for 14 yards in the 2019 post season. In 2018, Lewis had just 3 receptions for 39 yards.
Prior to Lewis’ stint with the Packers, he was a long time member of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Lewis was drafted by the Jaguars in the first round (pick 28) of the 2006 NFL Draft. Though Lewis has not been a big name in the NFL, he has been a consistent player that his teams could rely on. Lewis was with the Jaguars through a few different roster re-builds as a steady veteran presence. Lewis has missed 21 games in 14 seasons as an NFL player. His best year statistically came in the 2010 season. Lewis had 58 receptions for 700 yards and ten touchdowns that season. He was a Pro Bowl selection that season.
Lewis played high school football in Long Beach, California. He attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School. He was viewed as a top prospect heading into college, and ultimately joined the UCLA Bruins. From 2002 to 2005, Lewis started in 32 of 49 games played. Lewis holds UCLA tight end records for most receiving yards (1571), and most receiving touchdowns (21).
Lewis will be entering his 15th season in the NFL in the 2020 season. That kind of longevity is rare in the NFL, especially with injuries being so common. At this point in Lewis’ career, he has gathered 393 receptions for 4697 yards with 34 touchdowns.
