Free agent interior offensive lineman B.J. Finney has agreed to a two-year, $8 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks. Finney spent the first four years of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he was their backup at center and both guard positions. He consistently played well in Pittsburgh when his number was called. It was only a matter of time until he became a starter somewhere.

B.J. Finney Signs With Seattle Seahawks
B.J. Finney was signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent following his college career at Kansas State. He was cut by the team in 2015 before being added back to their practice squad. After the 2015 season, he was signed to a reserve/future contract. He was on the 53 man roster for the 2016 season, where he serves as the team’s sixth offensive lineman.
Finney has appeared in all but five games for the Steelers over the past four seasons. Over his four year career, he has been a starter in 13 games. In each of the past two seasons, B.J. Finney appeared in every game for the Steelers. Whether it was on special teams or as a rotational offensive lineman, he found a way to contribute each time he saw the field.
Due to an injury to Ramon Foster and Maurkice Pouncey‘s suspension in 2019, Finney had to start four games for the Steelers. The presence of Finney as a backup center and guard was calming for Steelers fans whenever it was clear he would be playing. When he played, it was like there was no difference in the level of offensive line play. He consistently blocked well in both the passing and the running game. Some would make the argument that he should’ve been Pittsburgh’s starting left guard over Ramon Foster last year. B.J. Finney has consistently been solid and will be a strong addition to his new team.
