2020 Senior Bowl Practices Day Two Top Performers

2020 Senior Bowl Practices

Day two of the 2020 Senior Bowl practices went through with a huge success. This day was for the rising players to continually raise their NFL Draft stock. This was also a day for some players who did not do well on the first day of practice to rebound. There were many players that were able to make themselves known in front of NFL scouts and coaches. These are the players that were some of the top performers from day two of the 2020 Senior Bowl practices.

Top Performers From 2020 Senior Bowl Practices Day Two

North Squad

Defensive End Jason Strowbridge (North Carolina)

Strowbridge was one of the top performers of the first day’s practice. He would have been the best performer overall if he dominated the position drills as he did in the team periods. In Wednesday’s practice, Strowbridge was consistent throughout all the drills. He continued to dominate in the one-on-one matchups and in the team periods. He displayed his ability to quickly get off the ball, consistently get in the backfield, and swat the passes at the line of scrimmage. With another progressive and dominant Senior Bowl practice on Thursday, Strowbridge will be able to be one of the top practice players for the week.

Quarterback Jordan Love (Utah State)

Love was another prospect that did well very well on the first day of the Senior Day practices. He had a better day of showcasing dual-threat capabilities on day two than on the first day of practice. Unlike fellow dual-threat quarterback prospect Jalen Hurts, Love has been demonstrating his ability to make great, accurate throws from the pocket. He was not perfect in the team periods, but he made significant strides towards building first-round worthy draft stock. There was a clear distinction of the offense’s production when he was in at quarterback versus Michigan’s Shea Patterson and Washington State’s Anthony Gordon.

Tight End Adam Trautman (Dayton)

This 2020 Senior Bowl has seen some great NFL-caliber talent at the tight end position. Coming from a smaller school, this Senior Bowl is the first real chance for someone like Trautman to shine. On his second day of the Senior Bowl, Trautman showed his versatility in the position drills with his catching ability and run after catch plays. Even in the run plays, Trautman showed his ability to make efficient run blocks that will drive for productive first downs.

South Squad

Wide Receiver Van Jefferson (Florida)

Jefferson had a very impressive first day on Tuesday in the position drills. He displayed his great athleticism in both days, but he had a better day in the team periods against opposing defensive backs. Jefferson was catching passes left and right from his intended targets in the team period. He is a player who played under a very conservative Florida offense and needed this Senior Bowl to showcase his talent. With the start of his impressive attributes as a versatile wide receiver, Jefferson can extend his performance into the game on Saturday.

Guard Logan Stenberg (Kentucky)

This Senior Bowl was highlighted by an impressive roster of defensive linemen. This left a big spotlight for the offensive linemen to show their production against high-caliber talent. Stenberg was one of the most impressive linemen during one-on-one drills. He was winning matchups against Javon Kinlaw and other top defensive linemen. In the run plays and passing plays during one-on-one’s and team periods, Stenberg was the most efficient offensive linemen. Watch for him at the line of scrimmage when he takes on other top defensive linemen from the North Squad on Saturday.

Defensive End/Outside Linebacker Terrell Lewis (Alabama)

While Lewis wasn’t perfect during the second day of practice, he did remind scouts, coaches, and analysts of his talent. His get-off was fast and explosive and he was violent at the point of attack in team periods. Lewis fared better during pass rush drills against the running backs than some of the offensive linemen. He was constantly in the backfield on pass plays during the team periods. Lewis will have a chance to showcase similar playing traits as Denver Broncos edge rusher Von Miller in the 2020 Senior Bowl game on Saturday at the line of scrimmage.
