NFL Week 17 DFS Core Plays: Damien Williams, Tyler Higbee, More

NFL Week 17 DFS core plays. Here are some strong plays and options for daily fantasy in Week 17, from quarterback to tight end.

Damien Williams had a mostly dreadful 2019 fantasy season. However, he’s in a position to provide great value for DFS this week. Below are some NFL Week 17 DFS core plays.

NFL Week 17 DFS Core Plays: Damien Williams

Quarterback

Ryan Tannehill $6,800

Ryan Tannehill and the Tennessee Titans have everything to play for on Sunday when they face the Houston Texans. If the Titans win, they are in the playoffs. Lose, and they’re out. The Texans, however, don’t have a ton to play for. They are locked into a playoff berth, win or lose. Taking into consideration the Texans already struggling secondary, combined with the motivation factor, Tannehill seems a logical choice for DFS this week.

Tannehill has shown the ability to consistently put up good fantasy numbers, having scored 23+ Draft Kings points in four of the last five games. The Titans offense has been a top-10 scoring offense since he took over as the starter.

Running Backs

Aaron Jones $8,200

Aaron Jones has become the centerpiece of the Green Bay Packers offense this season. He has been on an absolute tear lately, scoring five touchdowns in his last three games. Jones also went for 130+ yards in two of the last three games. If Jamaal Williams (shoulder) is unable to suit up this week, Jones becomes a must start in DFS.

However, regardless of whether Williams plays or not, Jones is a strong play for DFS. Jones has a fantasy-friendly matchup with the Detroit Lions, who rank 29th in DK points allowed to running backs this season. Furthermore, since being snubbed of a Pro Bowl selection, Jones looks like he’s on a mission to show that he should have been selected to the Pro Bowl. The Packers have plenty to play for, with the top-seed in the NFC playoffs still in reach. They’ll need to win in the early window to lock-up a first-round bye.

Damien Williams $4,700

Williams is in position to potentially act as a workhorse back on Sunday. LeSean McCoy was a healthy scratch last week, and now Spencer Ware was placed on injured reserve, ending his season. The Darwin Thompson experiment failed a few weeks ago, leaving Damien Williams the lone survivor. As it is, the Kansas City Chiefs offense has been most effective when Williams is in the game. The Chiefs will be playing to try to get a first-round bye in the playoffs, so expect maximum effort from their offense on Sunday. Williams is in a position to provide great value for daily lineups.

Wide Receivers

A.J. Brown $7,000

If a DFS player has Tannehill at quarterback this week, who better to stack him with than A.J. Brown. After all, Brown has three 100-yard games and four touchdowns in his last five outings. Two weeks ago, when Brown last played the Texans, he had eight catches, 114 receiving yards, and one touchdown. He’ll aim to have a similarly productive game in this Week 17 matchup, where it’s win or go home for the Titans.

Robert Woods $7,000

Robert Woods is having a stellar second-half to the 2019 season. He has six or more catches in five of his last six games. He faces the Arizona Cardinals this week and the last time he faced them (Week 13) he put up 33.2 Draft Kings points. Woods will look to finish his season on a high note and has an ideal matchup to do so. Arizona allows the second-most passing yards per game this season (279.9).

Tight Ends

Travis Kelce $7,000

Travis Kelce has been a beast lately, cresting 19 Draft Kings points in five of his last six games. When he last faced the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11, he had 22.2 DK points. Kelce should see plenty of targets this week. He has nine or more targets in five of his last six games, and seven or more catches in six of his last seven.

The Chiefs have a chance to earn a first-round bye, so Kelce should play all or most of the game. For those playing multiple lineups, a Patrick Mahomes–Kelce–Austin Ekeler stack has a nice ring to it. It is a costly stack, but there is enough value available on the slate to make it feasible.

Tyler Higbee $5,600

Tyler Higbee showed last week that he can still produce at a high level even when Gerald Everett is active. Higbee has four 100-yard games in a row. He will look to make it five straight this week. He has an ideal matchup to make it happen. The Cardinals rank dead last in DK points allowed to tight ends this season. In what should be an uptempo game, Higbee should get his share of looks from Jared Goff Sunday. The two of them, stacked with Woods and rolled back with Kenyan Drake, make for a cost-effective and high upside GPP game-stack, great for playing in small to mid-sized tournaments this week.
