12 weeks of NFL play are officially in the books, which means bye weeks are officially a thing of the past. With the fantasy football playoffs right around the corner, it’s time to search the waiver wire for all the best available quarterbacks. Heading into Week 13, you should set your eyes on Sam Darnold, Kyle Allen, and Derek Carr.
Note that in order to make this list, the player had to be available in over 50% of fantasy leagues. If you’re in smaller leagues, there may be better players available. Make sure to check your waivers to see if there are any diamonds in the rough before submitting your claims.

Sam Darnold, Kyle Allen Highlight Fantasy Football Week 13 Quarterback Waiver Wire Claims
Sam Darnold
Sam Darnold is going to remain on this list until his ownership eclipses 50%. After a nightmare start to the season, the former third-overall pick is starting to prove that he has what it takes to be a franchise quarterback. Last week against the Oakland Raiders, Darnold completed 20 of his 29 passes for 315 yards and two touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown just for good measure.
This is the third straight week in which Darnold’s had a strong fantasy outing, and that stretch should continue into Week 13. Sam Darnold and the Jets face off against the Cincinnati Bengals and their abysmal defense. Based on the matchup and Darnold’s impressive level of play, it’s hard to imagine a world where Darnold doesn’t put up a strong fantasy outing.
Kyle Allen
Kyle Allen might not be the future of the Carolina Panthers, but he’s good enough to put up strong numbers in the right matchup. Facing off against a solid New Orleans Saints defense, Allen completed 23 of his 36 attempts for 256 yards and three touchdowns. From a fantasy perspective, this was his best game since his 2019 debut against the Arizona Cardinals.
Allen can accurately read a defense, but he has a subpar arm and doesn’t take the best care of the football. Fortunately, that shouldn’t matter when he faces off against the Washington Redskins. The Redskins could very well have the worst defense in the league, allowing Curtis Samuel, Christian McCaffrey, and D.J. Moore to run wild all day long. Allen could easily end up as a mid- to low-end QB1, which is all you can ask out of a waiver wire stream.
Derek Carr
Derek Carr had a day to forget in Week 12. Facing off in what should have been a favorable matchup, the former second-round pick recorded just 127 passing yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. Head coach Jon Gruden benched Carr in the third quarter, as this game got out of hand fast.
Fortunately, this game should be a one-week outlier. By and large, Carr has been a remarkably reliable quarterback for fantasy purposes. Prior to the New York debacle, Carr had recorded at least 19.8 fantasy points (standard scoring) in three of his past four games. He should return to that form in Week 13 against the high-powered Kansas City Chiefs. This is going to be a shootout, and Carr should be able to accrue yards against this porous defense.
