Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears, as first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. His new pact will pay him $3.5 million in 2019. Clinton-Dix played on the fifth-year option of his rookie deal in 2018, earning $3.16 million.

Chicago Bears Sign Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to One-Year Deal
Ha’Sean Treshon Clinton-Dix entered free agency after recording 93 tackles (80 solo), three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one recovery. The 26-year old safety also started 16 games after being traded from the Green Bay Packers to the Washington Redskins midseason. Clinton-Dix predicted he would not return to Green Bay in 2019 prior to the trade. The Redskins brought in the rangy safety to bolster the backend of their secondary for a playoff push that fell short. Pro Football Focus ranked Clinton-Dix as the number 17 safety in 2018.
Prior to last season, Clinton-Dix played in every game of his career. He started 16 games in four of five seasons with the exception being his rookie year when he started 10. So far in his career, he has amassed 456 tackles, 363 of them solo. He has 14 career interceptions and four forced fumbles with two recoveries. In 2016, Clinton-Dix recorded 79 tackles (61 solo), five interceptions, and one forced fumble. He was named a second-team All-Pro and went to the Pro Bowl for his efforts. He was the 21st overall selection in the 2014 NFL draft by Green Bay.
Clinton-Dix played his college ball at the University of Alabama. He spent three years in Tuscaloosa, winning back-to-back championships for the Tide in 2011 and 2012. The safety was first-team All-SEC as well as a consensus All-American. His college career ended with 98 tackles (58 solo) and seven interceptions. The Orlando native attended Edgewater High School his freshman and sophomore years as a running back. He transferred to Dr. Phillips High School for his junior and senior years. He lettered in football, basketball, ran track and was a high school All-American. He will now roam the secondary for the Bears next season.
