After Week three, the San Antonio Commanders and Atlanta Legends were 1-2 and 0-3 respectively. Now, both teams are coming off big time wins in Week five, and are looking to continue improving their record. Two of the hottest teams in the Alliance of American Football will face off at Georgia State Stadium in Atlanta. Here is a preview of the Atlanta Legends vs. San Antonio Commanders Week six matchup.

Quarterback Play
Since Atlanta Legends quarterback Aaron Murray entered the game in the first quarter of the Atlanta Legends matchup with the Arizona Hotshots, Murray has lead them to two straight wins. It makes Legends fans wonder what their team’s record could be if Murray started all five games. Over the last two games, Murray has completed 47 of 76 passes for 560 yards and one touchdown. Murray’s poise and leadership on the field is awakening this Legends offense and taking them to new heights.

On the other side, Commanders quarterback Logan Woodside finally broke though with a great performance. In the Commanders win over the Hotshots, Woodside put together a player of the week performance, completing 77 percent of his passes for 290 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. This was easily Woodside’s best overall performance, after struggling against the San Diego Fleet and Birmingham Iron. Woodside has the potential to be an elite quarterback in the AAF if he can consistently make good decisions.

X-Factors
The one bright spot throughout the season for the Legends has been their kicking game. Atlanta Legends kicker Younghoe Koo is in a three way tie with Apollos Kicker Elliot Fry and Fleet kicker Donny Hageman with 11 field goals made. Koo has made the game winning field goal in both victories for the Legends, and is the first person to score points in AAF history. With his three field goal makes on Sunday, Koo was named special teams player of the week.

The Commanders defense has been ferocious the last two weeks, forcing eight turnovers in that span. Behind the success of the Commanders defense the last two weeks is linebacker Jayrone Elliot. Elliot has three sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the Commanders two game win streak. The Legends offensive line will need to keep an eye on Elliot, because he has been wreaking havoc on offenses as of late.

Last Word
This game has playoff implications written all over it. A win by the Legends and an Iron loss would set up a two way tie for second place in the Eastern Conference. For the Commanders, a win and Fleet loss would give the Commanders sole position of first place in the Western Conference.
Two hot quarterbacks facing off should provide offensive fireworks, and the game could very well be decided late in the fourth quarter. Legends kicker Younghoe Koo has come through in the clutch twice already this season. If the Commanders can learn anything from last week, it is to never take the foot off the gas pedal after nearly blowing a 26 point lead.
