Defensive end Trey Flowers signed is expected to sign a five-year deal with the Detriot Lions, according to ESPN Insider Adam Schefter. The specifics on the new contract have not been revealed. Flowers spent the first four years of his career with the New England Patriots, where he won two Super Bowls.

Trey Flowers Expected to Sign with Lions
Flowers is just 25 years old and is coming off of a season where he started in a career-high 15 games and recorded a career-high 7.5 sacks. He also recorded 57 tackles, 20 quarterback hits, nine tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and two pass deflections. He was named to the Pro Football Focus All-Pro second team for his performance in 2018.
Flowers has led the Patriots in sacks and tackles for loss every year for the past three seasons, and he has been their most effective pass rusher. He was active for just one game in his rookie season due to injury, but since then, he has been a staple of New England’s defensive line.
Over the three active seasons he had in New England, Flowers accumulated 164 tackles (25 for a loss), 21 sacks, 59 quarterback hits, six pass deflections, five forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. He also played in all nine of their postseason games in those seasons, where he had 5.5 sacks and eight tackles for loss. He made three Super Bowl appearances and won two rings.
Flowers was a fourth-round pick by the Patriots in the 2015 NFL Draft after a successful college career at Arkansas. In his four-year tenure with the Razorbacks, he recorded 18 sacks and 47.5 tackles for loss. He was a member of the All-SEC second team in both his junior and senior seasons, and he recorded five tackles and a sack in his team’s 2014 Texas Bowl victory over Texas.
Flowers is a native of Huntsville, AL and was a three-star recruit out of high school. He originally committed to Georgia Tech, but he ultimately chose Arkansas to play his college ball.
