Wide receiver Allen Robinson of the Jacksonville Jaguars will be out for the 2017 season after tearing his ACL on a promising initial reception. Robinson’s season ended on his first reception, a promising 17-yard gain to the sideline. Robinson walked off the field, but immediately went to the locker room in torrid pain. The Jaguars went on to beat the Houston Texans 29-7.

The Jaguars star wide receiver started off strong by hauling in a 17-yard pass in the early moments of the lopsided 29-7 victory over the Texans Sunday. However, it immediately ended in tragedy as on the same play, Robinson suffered a torn ACL. The Jaguars coaching staff was holding out hope his knee injury was only minor, however, after he walked off the field.

Robinson was ruled out of the remainder of the game, and reports began surfacing that the knee injury was significant. Initial tests were set for tomorrow, but after further testing Sunday evening, the worst of fears were concerned, and Robinson will miss the entire 2017 season with an ACL tear.

The ACL tear occurred on minimal to no impact as Robinson was simply shoved. However, the twisting of the knee resulted in an unfortunate and severe ACL tear. The low-impact injury is a common sight among awkward and notorious ACL tears.

Robinson was a main target for quarterback Blake Bortles, who needs as much security as he can get after being benched in the preseason. Although Bortles won Sunday, the shaky quarterback will have to do so without one of his most reliable targets. Losing Robinson will be a shot when the Jaguars play seasoned-secondaries.

During their tenure together, Robinson has caught 201 passes for 2,831 yards, and 22 touchdowns. Allen Hurns will look to garnish the remainder of the passes that Robinson will miss in 2017.
