Los Angeles Rams 2016 Fantasy Football Recap

Below is Los Angeles Rams 2016 fantasy football recap. How there skilled position player did in 2016 and where to draft them next season.

The Los Angeles Rams have been one of the most consistent teams in the NFL over the last several seasons. The Rams have finished at or around 500 in the last four seasons. In 2016 the Rams finished with a 4-12 record and third in the NFC West. The Rams struggled on offense and defense to produce consistent production from there still position players. Even running back Todd Gurley struggle throughout the season. Below is Los Angeles Rams 2016 fantasy football recap.

Los Angeles Rams 2016 Fantasy Football Recap

Quarterback

The Rams started the season with veteran Case Keenum as their starting quarterback. He would play in 11 games. He threw for 2,201 yards with nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Keenum would lose his job and would remain on the bench for the remainder of the season. With the first pick in the 2016 NFL Draft the Los Angeles Rams selected Jared Goff out of the University of California. Goff would come in and start in week 11. He threw for 1,089 yards with five touchdowns and seven interceptions. Goff struggled in his rookie season as he totaled over 10 fantasy points in only one game. Goff is worth keeping an eye on but with the depth at the quarterback position is only worth a draft pick in very deep leagues next season.

Running Back

Running back Todd Gurley was one of the biggest busts of the 2016 season. Gurley finished his rookie year as one of the top five running backs in the NFL and in fantasy football. In 2016, Gurley  struggled and did not have the homerun ability that he displayed in his rookie season. He finished the season as the 20th ranked running back with 1,212 total yards and six touchdowns. He was a solid running back two throughout the season but he was drafted in the first round of most draft and was expected to produced more fantasy points. Gurley is a great bounce back candidate for the 2017 season and is worth a second or third round pick in drafts next season.

Wide Receiver

The leading wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams was veteran Kenny Britt. Britt had 68 receptions for 1,002 yards and five touchdowns. He finished the season with 128 fantasy points and averaged eight fantasy points per game. He finished as the 27th ranked wide receiver in fantasy. Britt has left the Rams and signed with the Cleveland Browns. He is worth a late round draft pick in next seasons drafts.

The next leading receiver for the Rams was Tavon Austin with 58 receptions for 508 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 159 rushing yards and a touchdown. Austin finished the season with 88 fantasy points averaging around five and a half points per game. With his inconsistent production he is hard to trust and only worth a late round pick in next seasons drafts.

Tight End

The tight end position has not been very productive over the last few seasons and 2016 was no different. The leading tight end for the Rams was Lance Kendricks with 50 receptions for 499 yards and two touchdowns. He finished the season with 62 fantasy points. Kendricks left the Rams in offseason and signed with the Green Bay Packers. With all the talent of the Packers he will have to fight for playing and produce fantasy points.

Kicker

With the whole Rams offense struggling last season including their kicker Greg Zuerlein. He finished as the 29th ranked kicker in fantasy with 84 fantasy points. He made 19 of his 22 field goals and 23 extra points. With the depth at the kicker position fantasy owners should look else where for there kicker next season.

Defense

The Rams defense has been a solid match up play for fantasy owners over the last few season. In 2016 they struggled and finished as the 23rd ranked defense in fantasy with 72 fantasy points. The Rams defense is worth keeping an eye on and could be a solid bye week and match up play.

The Rams have finished at or around 8-8 over the last few season. They have young talent but have not had consistent production on either side of the ball throughout the season. It all starts with them finding there franchise quarterback if Goff can be the quarterback many think he can be the the Rams could take that next step. With the young talent on the Rams team in the new coaching staff for the 2017 season the Rams could be a sleeper team this season and make a run at the NFC West title.
