Mitch Trubisky 2017 NFL Draft Profile

Mitch Trubisky has been considered one of the top NFL quarterback prospects of 2017 despite his limited playing time in college. Trubisky played as a backup to four-year starter Marquise Williams most of his career. During his sophomore year, he played a partial season and went 82 of 125 for 1,014 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions.

That season earned him third team All-ACC honors behind Heisman Trophy candidates Lamar Jackson and Deshaun Watson. Trubisky threw 30 touchdowns and only six interceptions during the 2016 campaign, completing 68 percent of his passes. There are many NFL teams searching for answers at quarterback this season. Bottom Line

Mitch Trubisky has many NFL executives’ eyes gleaming. He has size for the position at the next level along with an NFL caliber arm. Despite his lack of experience, Trubisky possesses all the tangibles that can lead to a successful career. He sees the entire field and is good at reading the safeties pre-snap. Trubisky moves though his progressions well and is willing to go back to a first option if he does not find an open receiver. He looks to throw first and run last keeping his head and eyes up. Trubisky will have to improve on his footwork, especially dropping back from under center. He will also have to become more confident in scoring positions and learn to take advantage without being timid. Given the right situation, Trubisky can become a franchise quarterback. Trubisky needs to sit for a few seasons and learn the speed and pace of NFL football.
