2025 F1 Academy Lineup: Joanne Ciconte Joins MP Motorsport

MP Motorsport have confirmed its full driver lineup for the 2025 season, welcoming Joanne Ciconte as she embarks on her rookie campaign in F1 Academy.

Ciconte Becomes the Sixteenth 2025 F1 Academy Entrant

MP Motorsport’s latest recruit will represent the team in an F1 Academy livery when the season begins in Shanghai. She joins an exciting driver roster alongside Ferrari junior Maya Weug and Tommy Hilfiger-backed racer Alba Hurup Larsen.

At just 16 years old, Joanne Ciconte embraces the opportunity to advance her career with a proven race-winning outfit.

Drivers like her exemplify the purpose of F1 Academy: gaining invaluable track time and exposure within motorsport. Their age allows for structured development pathways, making the road to F1 a more realistic prospect for female drivers.

Speaking about her future, Ciconte said:

“I’m proud to be stepping up to F1 Academy with MP Motorsport.”

“Racing alongside Formula 1 during Grand Prix weekends is a dream, and joining such an experienced team gives me confidence for the season ahead.”

“I can’t wait to hit the track for the first test, continue working with the team, and build towards my first race in Shanghai.”

The Beginning

Joanne Ciconte’s racing journey began when she first stepped into the world of karting at nine.

The youngster quickly made her mark while competing across regional and national championships in Australia.

One of her standout achievements came in 2023 when she claimed the Pink Plate at the Australian Karting Championship. Her impressive performances caught the attention of selectors, leading to her place as a senior category finalist in the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars programme that same year.

Pre-Season

In 2024, Ciconte transitioned to single-seaters, proving her adaptability in Australian F4 by scoring points in her debut season.

Seeking further development, she moved to Europe and competed in the Brno round of the Central European Zone F4 Championship. A brief but valuable stint in Spanish F4 followed, exposing her to a highly competitive field.

To refine her skills ahead of 2025, she also participated in the Formula Winter Series last month. F1 Academy competitor Aiva Anagnostiadis joined her as they increased their on-track experience.

Joanne Ciconte’s arrival at MP Motorsport marks another exciting step in her career. With a strong foundation in karting and single-seaters, she now faces the challenge of competing on the global stage.

Backed by a championship-winning team, she has the tools to make a lasting impression in her rookie season. As the countdown to Shanghai continues, all eyes will be on Ciconte to see how she rises to the occasion in F1 Academy.
