2020-21 NWHL Schedule Announced
The NWHL has announced the fast-paced and thrill of a schedule this morning for the 2020-21 season. Herb Brooks Arena at Lake Placid, New York, will host all of the scheduled games that were announced. A statement released by the NWHL clarifies that Herb Brooks will be entirely protected due to COVID-19. Broadcast details are soon to be released in the upcoming days. However, the NWHL has confirmed two of the semi-final games and the Isobel Cup Final will be broadcasted on NBCSN.
The Regular Season, Round-Robin and Finals
Mark it on your calendar, January 23 will be the opening day of the two straight triple-headers scheduled. If you’re worried about missing any of the triple-header action, they all will take place on a Saturday and Sunday, wishful thinking that helps the situation. The regular season will consist of six days as each team faces off each other once. Brace yourselves as the long wait of the Toronto Six’s debut will arrive as they take on Metropolitan Riveters in the first game.
Each team will face-off against each other one time to determine the seeding. From there, the top seed will face the fourth, and the second-place team will take on the third-placed team in a playoff round. Keep in mind an important factor is each team will be reseeded after the regular season round-robin. So, let’s say a team that endured a poor game during the regular season may have a chance for redemption in the round-robin play. The regular season round-robin will take place on January 31. Each series will be a single-elimination series as the playoff round will determine the four semi-final teams. Finally, the Isobel Cup Final will take place on February 5, 2021.
