The Carolina Hurricanes have announced that they have signed forwards David and Jason Cotton to entry-level contracts. David’s contract will pay him $700,000 next season and $832,500 the following season. He will also make $700,000 at both levels along with a $185,000 signing bonus. His brother was signed to a one-year deal worth $700,000 at the NHL level and $50,000 at the AHL level, the deal also includes a $25,000 signing bonus.

David and Jason Cotton Sign with Canes
David has spent the last four years at Boston College where he played in 57 goals and 70 assists for 127 points while skating in 148 of 150 games with the Eagles. This past season he was the Captain for Boston College as he posted 15 goals and 24 assists for 39 points in 32 games. He was second on the team in goals and ranked third in both points and assist this past season. The Parker, Texas native was drafted by the Hurricanes in the fifth round, 169th overall in the 2015 NHL Draft.
Jason Cotton was recently named a finalist for the Hobby Baker award for the most prestigious college hockey player in the country. This past season he put up 20 goals and 17 assists for 37 points in 34 games. Like his brother, Jason was also named captain this season for Sacred Heart. He was named Atlantic Hockey Player of the year and was tied for first in Divison I with three short-handed goals.
Brothers Look to Make History
If both Cotton brothers end up making the NHL club for the Canes together at any point in their career they would be the third set of brothers to play on the same team. They would be the 16th set of brothers who have made the NHL. The Staal brothers are the only trio that has all played together on the same line. This happed on April 12th, 2013 when Jared Staal made his NHL debut.
