Arizona Coyotes Sign Forward Nate Sucese

The Arizona Coyotes general manager/President of hockey operations John Chayka has announced that they have signed forward Nate Sucese to a one-year entry-level contract.

Arizona Coyotes Ink Forward Nate Sucese

It’s been well documented that general manager John Chayka likes to stock up on centres. He found another one in Sucese, although he’s listed as a left wing.  At 5′-9″, 174 pounds, he may need to bulk up a bit to contend in the NHL. He’s the type of player the Coyotes can use since he has no qualms about getting in front of the net and is a good forechecker.

His speed fits in perfectly with the style of play used by the Desert Dogs. Since he only signed a one-year deal Chayka must be high on his potential. Once things get back to normal, you’ll more than likely see Sucese in the AHL. His offensive numbers show he can help out the Coyotes once he gets to that level. He tallied 140 points in 147 games with the Penn State team. He lead the team in scoring this past season.

What This Means Going Forward

If there is one glaring need for the Coyotes, it’s been defined by their lack of scoring. The team has an excellent defence and awesome goaltending. Scoring is the issue, so it appears that Chayka is going right at that weakness by signing a good prospect here.

Now that the Fairport, N.Y. native has finished his college playing career, it’s time to see what he can do in the big leagues. Starting him out in the AHL with the Tucson Roadrunners will be a good method to see how he can play at the next level.

All in all a very adept signing by Chayka. Lets’ see what the kid’s got.
