Over Ritchie’s five-years in the league he has played in 287 games, with 43 goals, 66 assists and 109 total points. He looks to fit in well with the physical style of play of the Bruins.
Danton Heinen Goes to Anaheim
Heinen, 24 stands 6′-1″, 188 pounds and was the Bruins 116th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He is averaging 14:11 minutes of ice time this season. He has collected seven goals, 15 assists in 58 games. His Corsi is at 48.0 percent, with a Relative Corsi of -3.3. Heinen has tallied 34 goals, 69 assists for 103 total points in 220 NHL games during his four years in the NHL.
What This Means Going Forward
This seems like a very even trade for both teams. While Ritchie adds some obvious size to the Boston Bruins roster, Heinen’s cap hit is $1.3 million higher. This could have been a pure financial deal.
The Bruins are pushing towards the playoffs with the best record in the NHL while the Ducks are not going anywhere. It saves the Anaheim club some needed cap space to use for their rebuild.
The thought of Boston adding a player of Ritchie’s size just shows that they realize how physical things can get in the playoffs.
We will see how this trade works out for both clubs.
