On February 5th, Winnipeg Jets defenseman Tyler Myers underwent surgery to repair a lower-body injury. Myers has missed 39 games for the Jets this season, last playing on November 11th. The timetable for Myers’ return to the Winnipeg lineup is anywhere from six to eight weeks.

With that timetable, Myers would be set to return mid-April, but with the Jets current positioning (23rd in the NHL, 5th in the Central), a playoff position is up in the air. Depending on how the rest of the season goes, and if Myers needs the full eight weeks to recover, the Jets may just deactivate him for the rest of the season.
Regarding the injury itself, it is safe to say it is something serious considering all of the time he has missed. In a press conference, Jets head coach Paul Maurice said nothing about the extent of the injury or what exactly it was, but it can be speculated to be a knee or perhaps a hip injury.
Myers, 27, has two goals and three assists in a total of eleven games played this season. He has a total of 59 goals and 139 assists in 473 games skated in in his career. Myers arrived in Winnipeg during the 2014-15 National Hockey League season, when he, as well as Drew Stafford, two prospects and a first round draft pick were traded by the Buffalo Sabres in return for Evander Kane and Zach Bogosian.
