The Boston Bruins announced that centre Patrice Bergeron is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. The team announced that he would miss tonight’s game against the Washington Capitals.
Patrice Bergeron Injured
Per #NHLBruins coach Bruce Cassidy, Patrice Bergeron will not play tonight. He is considered day to day with a lower-body injury. Team doesn’t want it to linger.

So far this season, Bergeron has scored eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points to go along with 10 penalty minutes. His possession numbers were 57.0 percent Corsi For and a relative Corsi of 6.7.
Over his 16-year NHL career, Bergeron has only played for the Bruins. He has 329 goals and 503 assists for 832 career points in 1047 career games. He was originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 2nd round, 45th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
What This Means for the Future
With Patrice Bergeron out, David Krejci will take over the first centre role alongside David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand. David Krejci is a proven leader on the Bruins and they know he will fill the role that Bergeron left behind to the best of his abilities.
Bruce Cassidy said Bergeron was out for the game against the Capitals as a precaution. They do not want to risk him being out longer-term. If the Bruins were to lose Bergeron for a longer period of time, they would surely feel it. Bergeron is one of the best two-way centres of his generation, even all-time. The Bruins rely a lot on Bergeron and are hoping he can make his return to the lineup quickly.
The Bruins will look to keep their hot streak going. They have won three of their last five games and will look to keep that going into the future. The Atlantic Division is heating up and they will hope to continue their winning ways so they can keep their grip on first in the division.
