Dallas Stars Corey Perry Out With Fracture

Corey Perry

The Dallas Stars will have to wait until Corey Perry fully participates in the practice with them. The recently signed forward has suffered a small fracture in his foot and will be out. Perry is not expected to be available for the practice for at least two weeks. He will likely miss the remainder of the Stars’ training camp.

Corey Perry Out For Dallas Stars

Corey Perry has had a turbulent summer. In late June, the Anaheim Ducks bought him out with two years left on his previous contract. Only a few days later, on the first of July, the Stars signed him to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million per season. The 34-year-old right-winger had a difficult last couple of seasons. In the past campaign, Perry suffered a knee injury during the Ducks’ training camp and had to miss a good juncture of the regular season. Despite making a late comeback, he only managed to collect 10 points in 31 games for the Ducks.

Perry certainly hoped that his stint with the Stars would be a new chance for him to revive his winding career. However, an injury suffered right upon the start of the Training Camp is not ideal by any means. Over his prolific career, the former Stanley Cup winner from 2008, has played in 988 games at the NHL level, combining 776 points. He also added another 89 points in 118 playoff games.

What Does This Mean For The Future

The Dallas Stars open their regular season on October 3 versus the Boston Bruins. Perry will likely be already healthy by that time. However, it’s unclear whether he will be fit enough to play with practically no practice under his belt. That´s not an ideal start for the veteran forward with his new team. The Stars will hope something like the last season for Corey Perry will simply not happen again.
