The Department of Players Safety (DOPS) has announced that Washington Capitals Forward Tom Wilson will not have a hearing for his hit on Brian Dumoulin. He was not given a penalty for the hit during the game. Wilson was suspended twice during the 2017-2018 season.

Tom Wilson Will Not Have Hearing
Tom Wilson will not have a hearing with the DOPS after his hit to the head of Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Brian Dumoulin. The hit occurred 4:26 into the second period. Dumoulin did not return to the game after the hit. Dumoulin was on the ice for the morning skate, but was wearing a non-contact jersey.
This season, Wilson had 14 goals and 21 assists for 35 points in 78 games. He also added 187 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 50.4 percent Corsi with a relative Corsi of 3.1 percent. He has two goals and four assists in eight games in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Over his five-year NHL career, Wilson has played only for the Washington Capitals. He has put up 35 goals and 69 assists for 104 career points in 391 games. He was originally drafted in the first round, 16th overall of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals.
What This Means For the Future
The Capitals are happy to hear that one of their first line forwards won’t be suspended. He is currently averaging 19:30 of ice-time during the playoffs and averaged 16 minutes of ice-time during the regular season. Wilson is currently playing on the first line with Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov.
The series between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals is knotted at one game apiece. Game 3 will be Tuesday night in Pittsburgh.
