Vancouver Canucks Expected To Host 2019 NHL Entry Draft

The Vancouver Canucks teased their fans today on Twitter, letting people know that they have a special announcement coming tomorrow. While the team is not saying what the announcement is about, a number of NHL insiders have broken the news. It is widely reported that the Canucks are expected to host the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. With the Canucks expected to host the draft in 2019, it will be three years in a row in a Western city. Sportsnet’s Irfaan Gaffer initially broke the news that this will be a draft announcement. Gary Bettman will also be in attendance for the announcement.

Canucks Expected To Host 2019 NHL Entry Draft

An official announcement will come tomorrow, however, this will be the first time the Vancouver Canucks have hosted the entry draft since 2006. In 2006 the Canucks took Micheal Grabner with the 14th overall pick in front of their home crowd. Previously to that, they also hosted in 1990.

The draft in Vancouver will be the first draft in Canada since Montreal in 2009. Last season’s draft was held in Chicago, and this year’s draft will be held in Dallas. This is will mean it will be the third year straight the NHL Entry draft is hosted in a Western city. The official date will most likely be announced tomorrow with the announcement. This season’s draft will take place on June 22nd and 23rd in Dallas Texas.
