Dan Boyle announced his retirement, after 17 seasons, across four teams. Boyle is easily one of the best undrafted-NHL players.
Boyle played in 1,093 NHL games, recording 442 assists, and 605 points total. The came in the course of three seasons with the Florida Panthers, six with the Tampa Bay Lightning, six with the San Jose Sharks, and two with the New York Rangers.

Boyle holds the title for highest point scoring defenceman in both Tampa Bay (253 points in 394 games), and in San Jose (269 points in 431 games). He is one of only four defenseman to accomplish the feat of leading two different teams in career points.
Boyle also played in 12 different postseasons, putting up 81 points in 130 games.
He also has multiple titles to his name. Boyle was apart of the 2004 Tampa Bay Lightning who ended up winning the Stanley Cup. He also won a gold in the Olympics, with Canada, at the 2010 Vancouvera Games; and a silver medal with Canada in the 2005 World Championships. He was an NHL all-star two times, and a Norris Trophy top-15 finalist six times.
Although Boyle is retiring, and Brent Burns is only 39 points away from the defensive point record in San Jose, he is solidifies his name as one of the best NHL defensemen of his era, and one of the best undrafted players of all time.
When announcing his retirement, Boyle said, “I’ve been fortunate and blessed to have had the opportunity to do what I most love to do. All I wanted to do as a young boy was have the opportunity to play ONE game in the NHL. Over a thousand games later, this whole experience seems surreal.”
