Although this raised concerns around star defenceman Quinn Hughes, Friedman said that it would take a ‘mammoth offer’ and it is something that they are not worth doing.

So far, Pettersson has 34 points in 29 games this season. Hughes has no goals, but 26 assists for 26 points on the year with a +/- of -3.

What This Means

Although it may seem like not the smartest idea to completely tear down the team, they just came off of a rebuild where they drafted the likes of both Hughes and Pettersson.

A minor shakeup may be necessary, as the team is not stable as it is. There are constant trade rumours swirling around players like J.T. Miller.

So far, the Canucks have a 13-14-3 record, going 6-4 in their last 10. They also have a goals for of 102, with a goals against of 117 to give them a goal differential of -15. As of writing, the Canucks sit In the sixth spot in the Pacific Division. Vancouer is ahead of the San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks.

Although they appear to be near the basement of the West, there is still lots of time left to get back on track. The Canucks can get into a playoff spot. Although considering how bad of a spot this team is in. It may not be viable for the Canucks to put themselves in a spot to try and win a title.
