Best Dallas Stars by Sweater Number: 76 Through 90

Stars sweater number

Today, we continue with another edition of our “Best Dallas Stars by Sweater Number” series with our penultimate installment.

This round features two Hall of Famers, some solid veterans, and some guys who never quite panned out. Here are the best Dallas Stars by sweater numbers 76 through 90.

Best Stars Sweater Numbers: 76-90

#76 – Never Been Worn

#77 – Pierre Turgeon (Forward)

Turgeon was another Hall-of-Famer with a brief stint in Dallas, spending three seasons with the Stars near the end of his career. He had 129 points in 207 games with Dallas before heading to Colorado for his final two seasons. Turgeon spent 19 years in the NHL with six franchises and finished among the top 50 in goals, assists, and points in NHL history. He retired in 2007 and was somehow traded three times during his career.

Forward Matthew Barnaby also wore number 77 for Dallas and was no slouch. However, he only appeared in 39 games for the Stars. Barnaby played 14 seasons in the NHL, mostly with the Buffalo Sabres.

#80 – Never Been Worn

#81 – Tomas Vincour (Forward)

Vincour is the only Dallas Star to have worn number 81. He was a fifth-round pick in 2009 and spent his first three NHL seasons in Dallas before being traded to Colorado in 2013. He played in 95 NHL games and had 17 points. Eventually, he returned to Europe and continued his career in the KHL in Russia.

#82 – Never Been Worn

#83 – Ales Hemsky (Forward)

Hemsky came to Dallas as a veteran unrestricted free agent in 2014 and spent three seasons with the club. Before arriving in the Lone Star State, he was a crucial component of the Edmonton Oilers, contributing 477 points across 11 seasons.  A torn hip labrum cost him some time in Dallas, and his career ended with a concussion seven games into the 2017 season with the Montreal Canadiens.

He played in over 800 NHL games and had 572 points (174 goals and 398 assists).

#88 – Eric Lindros (Forward)

There is also only one player who has ever worn sweater number 88 for the Stars. Lindros played the final 49 games of his career in Dallas during the 2006-07 season, putting up just 26 points with five goals. The Hall-of-Famer is best known for his days with the Philadelphia Flyers, where he played 486 games, had 569 points, and scored nearly 300 goals.

Lindros also appeared in six All-Star Games and had four seasons among the NHL’s top 10 goal-scorers. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2016.

#89 – Never Been Worn

#90 – Jason Spezza (Forward)

Spezza’s long and illustrious career took him to Dallas from 2015 to 2019 after 11 seasons with the Ottawa Senators. Arguably, only Daniel Alfredsson had a bigger impact on the Ottawa franchise, but Spezza also made his mark in Dallas. His best season came in 2015-16 when he scored 33 goals, and he rarely touched double-digits in the subsequent years.

Spezza returned to Canada when he signed with Toronto in 2019 and retired after a three-year stay with the Maple Leafs as they returned to contention in the Eastern Conference. The two-time All-Star ranks 83rd all-time in assists and 99th in points.
