This is the sixth addition to our series on the “Best Dallas Stars by Sweater Number.”
Here are the Best Dallas Stars by Sweater Number 51-60.
Dallas Stars Jersey Numbers: 51-60
#51 – John MacLean (Forward)
MacLean spent most of his career with the New Jersey Devils but played his final two years in Dallas. As a Star, the right wing played in 48 games with minimal production. That’s not much to put on the resume. However, the only other player to wear the No. 51 sweater for Dallas was forward Fredrik Karlsstrom, who has only appeared in eight NHL games.
Overall, MacLean played in 1,154 games and lasted 18 years in the league, with his best season coming in 1988-89. He also won a Stanley Cup with New Jersey in 1995 and was nominated twice for the Selke Trophy.
#52 – Never been worn
#53 – Wyatt Johnston (Forward)
Wyatt Johnston and Vojtech Polak are the only players to don 53 in Dallas. Johnston has quickly made it his own by bursting onto the scene as a budding star during his first two pro seasons. The 21-year-old has 106 points in 164 NHL games and has already climbed his way onto Dallas’ top lines.
He was named to the 2022-23 NHL All-Rookie team after tallying the franchise’s 19th-best rookie season in terms of points and has a bright future as one of the leaders of the Stars going forward.
#54 – Never been worn
#55 – Sergei Gonchar (Defenceman)
Gonchar was one of the elite defencemen of the 2000s — appearing in over 1,300 NHL games in 20 seasons. Only 79 of those were with Dallas, yet he is easily the best candidate to represent No. 55 on this list.
Gonchar was a four-time All-Star with 12 Norris Trophy nominations and won a Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh in 2009. He was one of the best defencemen of his era and possibly league history.
#56 – Sergei Zubov (Defenceman)
Zubov is and always will be the only No.56 the Stars will have. The Hall-of-Famer was tremendous for Dallas during his 12-year tenure and had his number retired in January 2022.
Over the course of his career, Zubov was also nominated for 12 Norris Trophies, won two Stanley Cups, and was a tremendous asset offensively, especially in the playoffs and on the power play. He remains one of Dallas’ all-time leaders in points and assists.
#57 – Never Been Worn
#58 – Jordie Benn (Defenceman)
There are only two players to choose from here. The older brother of long-time captain Jamie Benn left less of an imprint during his time in Dallas. Still, Jordie lasted 12 years in the NHL, with the first six coming in Dallas. His best year was during the 2013-14 season.
#59 – Ivan Vishnevskiy (Defenceman)
Vishnevskiy is the only player to ever wear 59 for the Dallas Stars. He appeared in five games between 2008 and 2010 and had two points. He was later traded to Atlanta as part of the Kari Lehtonen deal. Atlanta shipped him to Chicago the following summer for Andrew Ladd.
#60 – Antoine Roussel (Forward)
Roussel and Ty Dellandrea are the only ones who have worn No. 60. Things never worked out for Dellandrea in Dallas, while Roussel spent the majority of his decade-long career with the Stars. He appeared in 413 games with Dallas and accumulated 141 points. He is still an active NHL player but is currently an unrestricted free agent.
