Best Flyers Jersey Number: 11-20
11. Travis Konecny
Number 11 doesn’t have a ton of choices for this list. However, Travis Konecny is the easiest choice for this number since he has had an immediate impact since he debuted. Konecny has played in 564 games as a Flyer and has tallied 400 points over that span (174 goals 226 assists). Konecny has eclipsed 30 goals and 60 points in the last two seasons, hitting the 60-point mark once before, the 2019-2020 season. To go along with this his scoring ability has led Konecny to be a two-time all-star selection. Konecny just signed a big extension to stay in Philly, so we may witness Konecny reach new career highs, and he may solidify himself as a Flyers great in the future.
12. Tim Kerr
The next Flyers jersey number is 12. Kerr was an absolute phenom while in Philadelphia, where he spent the majority of his career. The one-time all-star surpassed the 50-goal mark in four straight seasons while on the Flyers. In the ’83-’84 and the ’84-’85 seasons, Kerr slotted home 54 goals in each of those seasons. However, his goal production rose after that, as he scored a whopping 58 goals in the ’85-’86 season, and matched that number the season after that. However, despite all of this scoring from Kerr, he only was selected for the all-star game one single time.
13. Kevin Hayes
Although Hayes didn’t have a long stay in Philadelphia, he makes this list due to the lack of people who have worn number 13 for the Flyers. Hayes was an all-star one season with the Flyers, besides that, he was just an average player while in Philly. Totaling 157 points in 253 games over four seasons as a Flyer, Hayes produced at a consistent level, but nothing special. Hayes was a fan favorite while he was in The City Of Brother Love. However, he just never broke through as the star they thought he would be while on the team.
14. Sean Couturier
The next Flyers jersey number is a special one. Couturier has been a Flyer his whole career and has not disappointed while playing for Philly. He has been notorious for his defensive zone play while being able to produce on the offensive end. Couturier was awarded the Selke trophy during the 2019-2020 season, an award given to the best defensive forward in the league. He also finished top-10 in Selke voting five other times in his career, including a second-place finish the year prior to the one in which he was given the award. In 2024 Couturier was named as the team’s 20th captain in franchise history. He has been a tremendous leader for this team and will be for the rest of his career.
15. Terry Crisp
Crisp served as an alternate captain to Bobby Clarke while with the Flyers. Crisp was a great leader, contributing to the two Stanley Cup victories. Although he didn’t spend much time with the Flyers, his leadership helped them a lot. His leadership gained from his time in Philly translated to after his Playing Career. He eventually went on to Coach the Flames and led them to a Stanley Cup victory. This spot on the list lacks players to wear this number. But, Crisps’ time in Philly earned him this spot, especially on the leadership end.
16. Bobby Clarke
Widely regarded as the greatest to ever wear the orange and black, Clarke is the golden boy of the Broad Street Bullies. Clarke led the Flyers to two back-to-back Stanley Cup victories in the ’70s as the captain of the club. He also led them to another where they were unable to finish the job. The Flyers were one of the best teams in the ’70s and Clarke was the epicenter of their dominance. Clarke collected many individual awards during his time with the Flyers as well, he was a three-time Hart Trophy winner (NHL MVP), the 1983-84 Selke trophy winner, and a four-time all-star. He also collected the Masterson trophy and the Pearson trophy. Not to mention, Clarke is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame and has his number proudly hanging in the rafters in Philly.
17. Rod Brind’Amour
Brind’Amour spent nine great seasons with the Flyers before moving on to Carolina. Although he won the ultimate prize, the Stanley Cup, with Carolina, his prime was spent with Philadelphia. Brind’Amour was producing at a near point-per-game clip while with Philadelphia, amassing 601 points (235 goals, 366 assists), in 633 games. His lone all-star appearance came with Philadelphia in 1992, and he was part of the Flyers side that reached the final in 1997. Brind’Amour also holds a spot in the Flyers Hall-Of-Fame, he was inducted in 2019. Cases could’ve been made for other players for this spot, like Jeff Carter, or maybe even Wayne Simmons for this spot on the list. But, Brind’Amour is the clear choice here, even though his time in Philadelphia is overshadowed by his Cup win in Carolina.
18. Mike Richards
Flyers jersey number 18 is an icon during that time period. Richards was a fan favourite for a reason when he was here, he played his hardest every game he put on a Flyers sweater. Richards was the 18th captain in franchise history and was everything you could ask for in a captain. He led the 2010 Flyers back from three games to none deficit against the Bruins, which eventually turned into a Stanley Cup run. He had so many iconic moments as a Flyer, including “The Shift” during that 2010 playoff run. Numbers-wise, he also was a big contributor while he was a Flyer. Over six seasons in Philly, he racked up 349 points (133 goals 216 assists), in 453 games. However, his numbers may be part of the reason he is on this list, his effort, leadership, and overall grit are what made him a memorable and great Flyer.
19. Rick MacLeish
The man who scored the game-winning goal in the 1974 Stanley Cup. Rick MacLeish is a member of the 50-goal club and the 100-point club. Two feats that have rarely occurred in Flyers history. Spending most of his career with the club, 12 seasons, MacLeish will always be remembered in Flyers history. Cases could be made for fan favorite, Scott Hartnell, but MacLeish produced much more and helped them secure the club’s only two Stanley Cups.
20. Dave Poulin
The man who had to replace Bobby Clarke as the Flyers’ Captain, Poulin lived up to the expectation. Poulin led the Flyers to two cup appearances in three seasons, losing both to Gretzky’s Oilers. He was a great 200-foot player while in the NHL, and spent his glory years leading the Flyers. He was the Selke Award winner from the 1986-87 season and finished top 10 in Selke voting three other times while with Philly. Poulin had impressive numbers to go along with his stellar defensive play. During his eight seasons in a Flyers sweater, Poulin appeared in 467 games. In that span, he racked up 394 points (161g ,233a), nearly averaging a point per game. There’s no question about it, Dave Poulin is a Flyers legend, and there’s no debating his spot on this list.
