Sharks Sign First-Round Pick to Entry-Level Contract

San Jose is in the midst of a rebuild and is making progress. They continue the process by signing Sam Dickinson to his first contract. Not long after the Sharks signed first-overall pick, Macklin Celebrini, they signed Dickinson to a standard entry-level contract.

San Jose Sign Sam Dickinson

Dickinson was selected 11th overall by the San Jose Sharks in the 2024 NHL Draft. He’s played two seasons in the OHL with the London Knights, he was spectacular last season. The defenceman put up 18 goals and 70 points in 68 games. That was good enough to place him fourth among all d-men in the OHL In addition to that, he finished with an incredible plus-56, second-best in the league. Also, in the OHL playoffs, he scored 12 points in 18 games. Eventually, the Knights went on to win the tournament and were awarded the J. Ross Robertson Trophy as champions of the OHL playoffs.

As a result, they advanced to the Memorial Cup where Dickinson scored four points in four games. While he and the rest of his teammates had a great tournament, the hosts, Windsor Spitfires defeated them in the final taking home the silverware. In the end, Dickinson’s play last year earned him this contract.

The Sharks’ Youthful Power

Now that Dickinson is signed to a contract, the Sharks have some very exciting talent coming in for the next little while. With this ELC, there’s the assumption that Dickinson will feature in San Jose’s roster at some point this season, even if its for a handful of games. He’ll be joining fellow first-round pick, Celebrini and is now a part of  a very impressive prospect pool for the Sharks.  Don’t forget to include, Will Smith, Quentin Musty, Luca Cagnoni and more. Sharks general manager, Mike Grier has meant business when it comes to the draft. However, he won’t stop there as they have two more first-round picks for next year’s draft.

The future looks bright in San Jose.
