(The Philadelphia Flyers have made Matvei Michkov signs a contract to the NHL official. The prospect has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the club. Michkov intends to be apart of the Flyers this upcoming season, and is expected to have an immediate impact.

Matvei Michkov Signs Deal
The 19-year-old Russian winger spent last season in the KHL, after being selected by the Flyers in the 2023 NHL draft. Selected seventh overall, Michkov was the first of two Flyers draft picks selected in the first round. Last season, despite his rights being owned by SKA St. Petersburg, he spent majority of the season playing for HC Sochi, on loan. He played 48 total games last season, 47 with Sochi, and one singular with St. Petersburg. He produced near a point per game in his time in the KHL last season. The phemon posted 41 points (19g, 22a) in those games last season.
Michkov and Flyers GM Danny Briere have both commented on the signing. Both had joy responding with joy while talking to the press. “We’re excited to have Matvei under contract and we look forward to him joining our team at training camp in September,” said Briere. “We’ve kept a close eye on his development since the draft and to be able to add a player like Matvei, who brings a high-level of talent, skill and game-breaking abilities, he will be a key piece to our future.”(NHL.com)

While Briere shared how he felt on the situation, Michkov also told the press on how this was a dream come true for him. “I’m extremely happy to officially become a part of the Flyers family,” said Michkov. “Being in the NHL has been a dream for me since childhood. I would like to say a huge thank you to the Flyers management for their trust. I will do everything possible to meet their expectations.”(NHL.com)
While fans are excited to hear the news of this signing, Michkov and the Flyers front office are just as ecstatic. The upcoming season should be exciting in Philadelphia, as they are starting to trend in the right direction for them.
