The Columbus Blue Jackets Will Be Without Fantilli Tuesday Against St. Louis

The Columbus Blue Jackets young skilled forward, Adam Fantilli, has an injury that will keep him out Tuesday. The Blue Jackets are set to play the St. Louis Blues, but Fantilli requires further evaluation. Fantilli suffered a cut to his left leg from the skate blade in Sunday’s game versus the Seattle Kraken. More will be known on the extent of the injury following the evaluations done once the club returns home to Ohio.

Fantilli was the third overall selection in the 2023 NHL entry draft. This was following a big year for the University of Michigan Wolverines. He recorded 30 goals and 35 assists for 65 points in 36 games. Furthermore, he helped provide a one-two punch at the 2023 World Junior Championships for Team Canada. That number one, being fellow 2023 draft pick, the first overall selection, Connor Bedard currently of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Fantilli is having a very impressive season thus far for Columbus. He has some size at 6’2” and plays centre. Through 49 games in 2023-24, he has 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points in 49 games. Also, he has a very solid 8.3 CF% Rel. He has shown that he can provide strength down the middle in the NHL, even at just 19-years-old.

What Does This Mean for the Blue Jackets

Columbus is a team focused on growth and development. Along with Fantilli, they have a few great, young players making their mark. Players like Kirill Marchenko or Yegor Chinakhov, among others, show the club has the capability of being very strong in the coming years. Hopefully, the injury news for Adam Fantilli is nothing long-term, and he can find his way back into the lineup soon. In the meantime, the All-Star Break will allow for his recovery process to begin for Fantilli.
