Carolina Hurricanes Sebastian Aho Earns All-Star Nod

Aho All-Star

The first 32 names have been added to the 2024 NHL All Star Game. Carolina Hurricanes centre Sebastian Aho finds himself as one of those 32 players ready to take his talents to Toronto in February.

Sebastian Aho Makes 2024 All-Star Game

This will be Aho’s third All-Star game after making it in 2019 and 2022. Selected in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Aho quickly rose from the young Finn from Rauma, Finland to being possibly the new face of the Carolina Hurricanes. Over his NHL career, he has quickly risen up the list of franchise records and has already broken quite a few. Carolina has not really had a player of this calibre since Eric Staal.

Aho making the All-Star game this season is not surprising. He leads the team in points with 43 and goals with 15. This includes four power play goals and one shorthanded. This news also follows Aho earning the NHL’s first star of the week last week while putting together back-to-back four-point games. His performance this season has brought him hovering around the top 15 in the league in points. It’s no secret that Aho is a cornerstone piece for the Hurricanes. And this season is no different.

What This Means

While every NHL team gets at least one All-Star nomination, Aho deservedly earned this one. His statistics above speak for themselves. And even beyond the statistics, Aho is a leader on the team and a player who truly excels in many areas. Coach Rod Brind’Amour utilizes him on the power play, penalty kill, as the first line centre, in overtime and in the shootout. He truly does it all. This being his third All-Star appearance shows Aho’s ability and progression. Carolina surely wants him around as they signed him to a big eight-year deal over the summer. But don’t be surprised to see Aho in more All-Star Games down the road.
