The Ottawa Senators Have an Update on the Injury for Thomas Chabot

The Ottawa Senators top minute defenceman Thomas Chabot has an injury update. It is interesting the top forward on the club is Tim Stutzle at 22:08. If you are wondering why his scoring is down is because he is tired. The same doesn’t quite seem true of Chabot. He can handle to minutes it seems and has proven so throughout his entire career to this point.

The Update on the Thomas Chabot Injury Is He Will Be Out Around Four Weeks

The Sens need Chabot in the lineup. They have been very fortunate that Jake Sanderson has been able to step up in his absence. Regardless of who steps up, Chabot does possess strong numbers. In his eight years with the club, he compiled 233 points in 390 career regular season games. Furthermore, his career high came back in 2018-19. He recorded 14 goals, and 41 assists in just 70 games. This year he has been hit with the injury bug. Case in point, he just returned from a four week absence with a wrist injury.

What Does This Mean for the Senators

In any sense, the Senators will be okay. They simply cannot use injuries as a fall back as to why they don’t win. The Joshua Norris injury in 2022-23 was a different story. He came in as the number one centre. Moreover, Ottawa is a better team this year. It is debatable whether Alex DeBrincat made the team better. However, this year the team feels deeper with both Vladimir Tarasenko and Dominik Kubalik. Norris being back would offset the loss of DeBrincat’s potential offence.

This analysis has not discussed the impact on the defence core specifically. Both Jakob Chychrun and Jake Sanderson have done well handling the increased minutes with the previous Chabot absence. Hopefully the young players can continue to get proper opportunity to raise their level of play.
